An electric Ram 1500 is no longer coming
Auto Blog:
In a new statement, Stellantis, the parent company of storied American car brands including Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram Trucks, says that it will indefinitely cease development and plans to introduce an all-electric Ram 1500 pickup truck to market. The automaker cites that the decision was made due to slowing demand for such a product in North America and that its range-extended Ram 1500 Ramcharger will be blessed with a new name to lead the brand’s electrified charge.

I’m hearing a lot of car companies are switching back over to hybrids.
What is a Stellantis and is it contagious?
Honestly, when a company changes names every 5 years they are RUNNING from their reputation.
You’d need to be dumber than AOC or Jazzy to buy an electric vehicle from Chrysler.
Dr tar.
Let them switch back a little further to non turbo v6,v8, and i4 for more reliability
@Rick/Kcir — Why would anyone want to run from the name Fiat?
</sarcasm>
Vaguely related idle question for academic purposes only:
What is the probability that a single 5.56 black tip AP rifle round fired from 50 yards away into a typical electric vehicle battery would FAIL to cause a humongous hard-to-extinguish fire?

I think an AP round would be WAY overkill.
@OldCoot — I just want to ensure the round gets through the bodywork without breaking up. Personally, I’d just say ‘fsck it’ and go with .30-06, the all-purpose cartridge. 😉
How do you spell confusion:
Abarth
Alfa Romeo
Chrysler
Citroen
Dodge
DS
Fiat
Jeep
Lancia
Maserati
Opel
Peugeot
Ram
Vauxhall
We just used to call them TLFJs
Tinny Little Fukedup Junk.
I was at the carwash using the vacuums and parked next to a new Hummer EV, friggin’ thing was humongous. Weighs almost 10,000 lbs, but the 3 motor version has 1000 HP.
them ‘lectics not bez working for you assholes? could call bud light, crapper-barrell fo woke marketing.
Stellantis is a long way off from the 1969 Super Bee.
I Think they missed muscle brains instead of muscle cars.
Face it Stellantis, no way do we enjoy the silence of an electric motor versus the roar of a dual Holley 4 barrel carb with a 3/4 cam and a JC Whitney Header.
Am I dating myself folks?
Oh yes, I forgot, we had the exhaust cutout that ran from a choke cable under the drivers floorboard.
3/4 cam? What about the other two cylinders? Solid, roller or hydraulic. In other news, and this probably flew underneath the radar, California has decided to include classic cars in it’s smog shit. Again we don’t get a chance to vote on this. Jay Leno fought it tooth and nail and they passed it anyway. Leno threw a ton of money at the opposition and told them you pass this and I’m leaving California. At this point this is not about saving the planet, it’s about control.
My VW Bug is 56 years old.
My VW Syncro Tintop is 40 years old.
What is the life expectancy of an electric car?
@Tom Dually,
Where are they going to put all those dead batteries when those EVs are ten years old and nobody wants to spend the money necessary to replace the batteries and they junk their cars. All of those batteries are serious fire hazards, even when fully discharged.
Hey Stellantis – SUCK IT!

You’re not actually buying the car, you’re buying the battery. I drive a LBZ Duramax. I put a WC products splitter on it. Basically opens all fuel into the turbo up to 3.0 dia. Stock necks down to 2.0. Turbo lag up the butt, but on the road, the damn thing will almost, almost, out run a Tesla. Still working on it.
7.62×25 Tokarev……

Brad, is it loud? Can it roll coal?

No it’s pretty tame. They don’t roll coal until you chip them. Change the computer.
Bought the wife a Mercedes Hybred a couple weeks ago. They put electric motors on those things to overcome the turbo lag. She’s had it for about 7 weeks. She’s put two tanks of gas in it and that includes a trip to Tahoe, and once around the lake. And the thing flies. Pretty impressed. First time I’ve ever purchased the extended warranty on a car though. No way I can wrench on the thing.
@Bad_Brad
Personally I would go for roller instead of hydraulic lifters.
Yeah they are a pain in the butt, but when your engine is at temp, you can shave off a few seconds when at the starting line.
0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds although today I am too old count.
Besides, I can’t buy nitro anymore……..
Sadly, Californica is a political shithole.
Jay Leno needs to move his antique museum to a state that doesn’t have brains made from liberal shit and move to a state that can recognize an antique auto.
Dumb Bunnies
I grew up as a street racing motor head. I had an A body Mopar that was turning 10.9 in the quarter, on a track, with out laughing gas. How I miss those days. 3/4 race cam screams you have no idea what you’re talking about. Not trying to be an asshole but that’s reality. Cams are measured two ways, lift and duration. Lift is self explanatory, duration is how long you hold that valve open measure at .05 of lift, both sides of the lobe. 1/4 race, 1/2 race, 3/4 race, full race, all bull shit. Not an asshole, just a truth teller. Oh and when you venture past the 12. second quarter mile, every tenth start’s getting real expensive, Usually suspension.

Leno also owns a couple production companies. They’ll be leaving too. They don’t care. These people are drunk with power and need to be hung just outside the state capital. After all, Sacramento is known as the city of trees. Time to put them to good use. Here’s what fixes all of this shit. The end of mail in voting.
@Bad_BradJ
Just funning with a 3/4 cam nonsence. I had .397 lift with a .411 duration peak torque was 6200 RPM and and peak RPM was 6850 RPM. Rapping out at 5000 RPM was nothing, Everything was balanced and blueprinted and had 13:1 compression ratio. I actually ran 1/4 diesel with 110 octane avgas. Valve lash was .012 inlet and .014 exhaust. Intake opened at 22 BTDC and closed at 63 ABDC. Exhaust opened at 62 BTDC and closed at 23 ABDC. This was a 4 banger at 2.2 liters with 89MM pistons and rings. I could outrun any V8 the first 1000 feet but after that I could care less. Had 4 speed manual trans with electric overdrive. Something to be said doing 110 MPH in on open 2 seat roadster with no seat belts. I did take it up to 120 MPH on the interstate but I thought I would pee my pants if I went any faster. That was still at 4900 RPM. I added a Judson Supercharger after that took it up to 125 MPH. I’m not quite sure but I think I did pee my pants when I got pulled over. Fortunately the cop told me to just slow down. He didn’t think a little sports car could go that fast.I don’t drive that fast anymore
@Bad_Brad
Nice to know a fellow speedster.
Am SCCA Licensed class D and really miss the days of hill climbs and gymkhanas. Too old to race anymore.
