National Post: As Canada suffers a series of blows from blockades to COVID-19 to the self-cancellation of the Teck Frontier mine, many people think the prime minister is AWOL. Why doesn’t he do something? Unfortunately, he thinks he already is.
As a general rule, before complaining about some politician’s inactivity, excessive vacations, etc. you should consider whether you like what they typically do when they show up for work. For instance emote instead of bringing down the hammer.
There’s a widespread animus these days against “ideology,” a mental disease somehow combining foolish rigidity with cunning mendacity whose principle symptom is disagreeing with ourselves from right of centre or loony left. But the smug conviction that in the middle are sensible, evidence-based pragmatic adults has the regrettable effect of preventing us from thinking much about our own assumptions or anyone else’s. more
Just as Obama, Trudy rose to power as a symbolic figure rather than an effective leader. The Canadians went goo goo over this foppish prancing sissy instead of electing a measured and effective statesman. Now that significant problems face the country the nations public is left in the lurch. Will the people take a lesson from this? Not likely.
The article would seem to make sense. Turdeau is so bad that on many levels things do look like they are running much smoother when he is not around.
However, when he is not around he is either giving away money outside of Canada rather than helping a “real” cause OR he is embarrassing Canadians on a global scale with goof ups that are Biden like.
Think of his “trade missions” to India, China, Japan etc.
We do prefer it when he is out of the country but it still costs us money and dignity and ultimately when he shows up, he picks up where he left off.
Oh, Please.
Jussie is emblematic of the Canadian psyche.
Frog name, speaks Engrish, clownish, cute (in a sissy kind of way), non-threatening, greedy, amoral, undoubtedly corrupt – sort of a Canadian version of Rod Blagojevich.
Canadians see through the bullshit but just don’t care.
On the eve of great distempers in England, Wellington remarked that the “English are a quiet people” which holds doubly true for Canadians.
