WaEngager:
A genuine holiday feast just isn’t complete without the presence of stuffing. Whether nestled inside the bird or served as a standalone delight, this dish adds a delectable touch to the festivities.
However, there’s one ingredient that can truly spoil the experience—those pesky insects, particularly large fuzzy moths. Shockingly, these unwelcome guests have made their way into numerous pre-packaged stuffing mixes in the UK. Tesco recently had to take drastic measures, yanking stuffing mixes off their shelves upon the unsettling discovery that many might be contaminated with moths. more here
Must be Uncle Schwab’s mix…
Moths in the stuffing wasn’t scheduled until next year.
Somebody screwed up and jumped the gun.
Damn things were attracted to the heat lamp above the gas stove.
Correction: Stuffing Recalled After NOT CONTAINING ENOUGH MOTHS & other insects.
Apparently, the stuffing tasted like moths.
This didn’t sit well with consumers.
I just hope it didn’t taste like moth balls…

Well, having had to pitch flour for meal worms, sure, why not go for the full lifecycle.
“Hon, the stuffing is a bit dry tonight.”
…bad news, kids.
Don’t read this if you’re easily grossed out, but EVERY processed food is allowed SOME, eh, “stuff”…

Geeez Louise… slow news day? All flour type products contain moths and weevils and who knows what other insects. Buy a bag of anything like that. Put it in your pantry unopened. Open it a year later to see the bugs.
And not to mention, anyone who has ever ride on a motorcycle has had a diet of bugs. Old Klause aside, me thinks we’re all becoming a bunch of p…..s.
“Don’t read this if you’re easily grossed out, but EVERY processed food is allowed SOME, eh, “stuff”…”
Exactly. Including rodent turds.
“This is the driest stuffing I ever ate!”
Thank God it wasn’t cockroach eggs…
Wait, What?
Sippin’ Coffee – meal worms in flour will be optional in 2025, mandatory in 2030!
Lurker – Ha, I made some cheese grits this morning and had to pick some bugs out of the grits. Grits, Bisquik, Oatmeal…they all have them and i’ve picked out my share. The few I miss, I pretend they are big pepper chunks..haha.
@Lurker and others, take your flour, grits, oatmeal, cream of wheat, and likewise dry grain products and freeze them for a couple weeks before shelving them. Kills the larvae. Works well.
“EVERY processed food is allowed SOME, eh, “stuff”…” – except for second hand tobacco smoke, even one molecule is too much.
CJ, bugs put the “gritty” in grits! No problem with bugs. Consider them as healthy protein added to the carbs.
Different Tim, I like my fresh larvae steamed. It kills them nicely and they retain their flavor, avoiding that lousy freezer burn taste. 🤮
Did you ever eat rockfish or snapper eyeballs, Harry?
A little clarification. The guidelines allow a certain amount of bug parts. The plan is for us to eat only bugs.
You can store flour, Bisquick/Baking mixes in the freezer and it won’t affect them but you need to let come to room temperature before using. Using cold will affect your bake.
