Stuffing mix recalled for containing MOTHS

A genuine holiday feast just isn’t complete  without the presence of stuffing. Whether nestled inside the bird or served as a standalone delight, this dish adds a delectable touch to the festivities.

However, there’s one ingredient that can truly spoil the experience—those pesky insects, particularly large fuzzy moths. Shockingly, these unwelcome guests have made their way into  numerous pre-packaged stuffing mixes in the UK. Tesco recently had to take drastic measures, yanking stuffing mixes off their shelves upon the unsettling discovery that many might be contaminated with moths. more here

  2. Geeez Louise… slow news day? All flour type products contain moths and weevils and who knows what other insects. Buy a bag of anything like that. Put it in your pantry unopened. Open it a year later to see the bugs.

    And not to mention, anyone who has ever ride on a motorcycle has had a diet of bugs. Old Klause aside, me thinks we’re all becoming a bunch of p…..s.

  3. Lurker – Ha, I made some cheese grits this morning and had to pick some bugs out of the grits. Grits, Bisquik, Oatmeal…they all have them and i’ve picked out my share. The few I miss, I pretend they are big pepper chunks..haha.

  4. @Lurker and others, take your flour, grits, oatmeal, cream of wheat, and likewise dry grain products and freeze them for a couple weeks before shelving them. Kills the larvae. Works well.

  5. Different Tim, I like my fresh larvae steamed. It kills them nicely and they retain their flavor, avoiding that lousy freezer burn taste. 🤮

    Did you ever eat rockfish or snapper eyeballs, Harry?

  6. You can store flour, Bisquick/Baking mixes in the freezer and it won’t affect them but you need to let come to room temperature before using. Using cold will affect your bake.
    (learned all this from grandma many years ago)
