Breitbart– The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, greenlighted the Trump administration to move forward with making cuts to the federal workforce in an effort to downsize the government.
In an 8-1 ruling, with Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson dissenting, the Supreme Court explained that they were “not ruling on the legality of a specific reorganization plan.”
The Supreme Court added that they found that U.S. District Judge Susan Illston had been “wrong” to issue an injunction halting the Trump administration from being able lay thousands of federal employees off, USA Today reported.
Attorneys for “a group of unions, non-profits and local governments” who challenged the Trump administration’s cuts to the federal workforce argued, “there will be no way to unscramble that egg” if the administration is allowed to continue with layoffs of thousands of federal employees. more
“Can’t unscramble that egg?” It is a bad egg indeed. I don’t agree with leaving the door open to endless lawfare with that caveat of, “not ruling on the legality of a specific reorganization plan.” This or any restructuring is within the purview of the Executive, period, end of sentence.

I am a Canadian, 73 years old. I worked as a temp in the summers of 1972 and 1973 for the federal government in Ottawa, to replace employees on summer vacation. I do not know why they bothered hiring me as a temp (I did make decent money) as I essentially did NOTHING but sit and look busy. The only time you saw activity was every second Friday when paycheques were handed out (this was before direct deposit).
I would bet that the situation is worse now. In my humble opinion, every second employee could be terminated but only if their actual work was documented such as DOGE did with that email “What did you do last week?”
