SURGICAL SEX

Firstthings: When the practice of sex-change surgery first emerged back in the early 1970s, I would often remind its advocating psychiatrists that with other patients, alcoholics in particular, they would quote the Serenity Prayer, “God, give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” Where did they get the idea that our sexual identity (“gender” was the term they preferred) as men or women was in the category of things that could be changed?

Their regular response was to show me their patients. Men (and until recently they were all men) with whom I spoke before their surgery would tell me that their bodies and sexual identities were at variance. Those I met after surgery would tell me that the surgery and hormone treatments that had made them “women” had also made them happy and contented. None of these encounters were persuasive, however.  more

  1. This is by far the best thing I’ve ever read on this issue. Thanks for posting.
It is by an expert, who knows what he’s talking about, backed up by a lot of empirical evidence.
From his descriptions, Bruce/Caitlin may be a “autogynephilia”.
Just a fancy name for sick fuck-up weirdo basket case.

  2. “Thanks to this research, Dr. Meyer was able to make some sense of the mental disorders that were driving this request for unusual and radical treatment.”

Bam, right there. Mental Disorders. Amen brother.

  3. @DBF – She’s not Barney’s daughter, she’s his sister. Wait, she’s his daughter. No, she’s his sister. Oh! She’s his daughter and his sister.
    (Apologies to “Chinatown”…..)

At least it’s not holding a watermelon.

  4. conclusion . . .”We have wasted scientific and technical resources and damaged our professional credibility by collaborating with madness rather than trying to study, cure, and ultimately prevent it.”

IProof that they are a few bricks shy of a full load.

  5. The word ‘creature’ has, to me, always had a powerful way of describing the many wonderful, frightening, amazing, etc. ad infinitum, life forms on our planet.

It is being horribly misused here…

  6. You can have your junk removed, or in the case of a woman wanting to be a man, added-on. You can buy or reduce your boobs. You can do hormone therapy, get laser hair removal or grow hair from a pill bottle. You can wear wigs, butch-up like a biker on meth or affect mannerisms of the opposite sex.

What you cannot do is remove that Y-chromosome if you are a dude or trade an E for a Y if you are a chick. No, genetics remain forever. The rest is just camouflage, or in my opinion, just delusion. Delusion first of self and second, delusion of the rest of us.

Stop calling people who don’t accept your subterfuge crazy, fill-in-the-blank-phobic or intolerant. No, in this case, Al Gore is right. The freaking science is settled. A “chick” with no dick, but still possessing a Y-chromosome is still a dude. And vice versa.

  7. True that.

I recently read that daWon is going to outlaw counseling against sex change.

He has already outlawed counseling to reverse children who think they’re homos.

Dr. Executive orders don’t cha know.
