Suspected Serial Arsonist Pleads Not Guilty to Starting California’s Fawn Fire

Tatum Report:

A California “shaman” has been accused of sparking a wildfire that threatens hundreds of houses. The suspect said the fire started by mistake while she was boiling bear urine to drink.

Authorities say that Alexandra Souverneva, 30, faces up to 9 years in jail for allegedly starting the Fawn Fire, which has burned 41 houses, 90 smaller structures and is still threatening 2,340 buildings. Souverneva has entered a not-guilty plea.

According to the Redding Record-Searchlight, Souverneva is suspected of starting other fires in California as well. Shasta County District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett stated that felony charges were being brought against Souverneva “not only for arson but also for committing an arson during a state of emergency.” more
