encounters have soared since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. A couple of young D.C. area suspects tried to get in on the action in Maryland recently, but got an unexpected surprise instead: an armed off-duty cop who sent the pair scurrying when he fired at them as they tried to force his family out of the car.

The incident reportedly occurred around 5:00pm Thursday in Oxon Hill, Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C. According to Prince George Assistant Chief Vernon Hale III, the suspects approached a car belonging to an as-yet-unidentified local officer and demanded that he and his family exit the vehicle. After everyone inside had complied with the thieves’ request, the officer pulled his department-issued weapon and fired at the suspects. more

  1. After everyone inside had complied with the thieves’ request, the officer pulled his department-issued weapon and fired at the suspects.

If it had been a non-cop, the local DA would have charged him with aggravated assault and attempted murder because the perps were no longer a threat.

I mean, the perps most certainly WERE still a threat but the DA wouldn’t have played it that way.

  2. Why did the article say it was an “attempted” carjacking? They completed the crime of carjacking. It’s just too bad the officer didn’t hit his targets.

  3. @Jethro, do they not realize that people know that if race is not given in a description, people automatically assume the perp is black? What have the media accomplished?

It ‘s really funny what they don’t describe a suspect but they give his name a “D’quan.”

On the other hand, if the race of someone who committed a horrendous crime is not know the media assume the perp is white so I guess it balances out.

  5. Oxon Hill had bad areas even a jillion years ago.
After the filth of Eastover started oozing south, Oxon Hill was doomed.
