WRKO 680: STOUGHTON, MA (WBZ-AM) — all’s quiet in stoughton but, a prank call late this morning had dozens of police and two SWAT teams surrounding an apartment building on pearl st — fearing a violent confrontation.
Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara calls this a “swatting” incident—someone using a stolen phone number to report a home invasion. Five men with machine guns. the response was quick and massive.
The call came in at around 10:30 this morning…and after a few minutes was disconnected. when police called back a woman answered saying she wasn’t home and said she thought her identity had been stolen over the last day or so.
The building was surrounded and searched police are still trying to track down the caller. MORE
And there are 5 machine guns running around in taxatwoshits?
Isn’t that illegal there?
The police chief probably still gets tricked by joy buzzers too.
Swatting has been common the last few years and a story like that should have at least raised an eyebrow or two before flying off.
You would think these part-time warriors would have figured this out all across the nation, like 10 years ago.
Without question, those that are attracted and accepted into the police force are by far the dumbest people we have in society.
If a man had called they probably would have double checked. Women are always believed without question.
My crazy ex daughter in law calls the cops on my son about every six months (he hasn’t spoken with her for a year or more). Only the rookies believe her any more. The older guys ignore her.
Hopefully the SWAT team didn’t get so high strung that they broke down doors, destroyed property, and shot people.
I’m reminded of various lines from “Alice’s Restaurant”, “three police cars and seven police officers, this being the biggest crime in the last hundred years”.
Maybe not exact quote, it’s been too long since I last listened to it, but you get the idea.
And hopefully the po-po can find the swatter, and string him/her up by their pubes.
this crap ain’t funny to me.
Life in prison. MANDATORY!
Wasn’t it just last year that the police/Rambo got a 911 call mixed up and went to the wrong house and shot a man who came to his own door, in the middle of the night, with a gun in his hand? The police need more training in fear management.
