Taliban welcomes Moscow’s steps to remove it from terrorist list – envoy

RT: Both Afghanistan and Russia will benefit once Moscow removes the Taliban from its list of terrorist organizations, Kabul’s ambassador to Qatar, Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, has told RT.

Earlier this week, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office filed a motion to lift the ban on the activities of the Taliban in the country, with the request to be considered by the Supreme Court on April 17. The Islamist group had been on Russia’s terrorist organization list since 2003.

Moscow increased diplomatic contacts with the Taliban after it took power in Afghanistan in 2021, capitalizing on the withdrawal of US forces after their two-decade presence in the Central Asian country.

The Russian prosecutors’ request is “a positive step” because both Kabul and Moscow “have interest to have cooperation in various fields,” Shaheen, the Taliban’s de facto international spokesman, said in an interview on Wednesday.

The ban on the group in Russia stood “in the way of that cooperation, so it was directly needed to remove it,” he added. more

  1. This will allow the Russians to buy all the war material that biden left in his blunder. Ukraine might get to experiance fending off American weapons just like the Russians.

  2. That might put a crimp in whatever foolhardy plans are being cooked up in Tel Aviv and the Pentagon to invade Iran. I hope PDT is not giving serious consideration to that idea, and I hope that he’s going to demand actual proof that Iran is tHis cLoSe to having a nuke. It sure seems like “WMD in Iraq” all over again. Only Iran is nothing like Iraq, and our military is half of what it was twenty years ago.

Now back to Afghanistan…Whatever we were doing there for twenty years was not war, dead Americans and Afghanis aside. It was a grift like Ukraine, involving our military and political leaders, and the bug-out was just a shameful, transactional end to it. Sure, the Tollybonn is a murderous bunch of fanatics, but ate they really Watchlist Terrorists because they don’t want Our Democracy?

I am tired of our government designating everyone it doesn’t like as Terrorists, foreign OR domestic, because they don’t toe the Uniparty/DeepState line. I’m not saying we should withdraw from the world, only that we can’t fix everything out there if we are broke here.

Time to reassess our means and goals. PDT is doing that as best he can. He doesn’t need the distraction and disaster of war to sidetrack him, and I think he knows that. However, I’m not sure if he completely understands that we live in a multipolar world now.

China is already filling the vacuum we left in Afghanistan, and now Russia is knocking on the door. Let’s see how far they get with the Tollybonn. If we ever had a chance to do anything beneficial to us and the Afghanis, we blew it in a cloud of corruption, wokeness and FoPo fecklessness.

If PDT can get rid of all the parasites in our government who facilitated all of our recent FoPo misadventures and disasters, he’d be doing a far greater thing for us than starting new wars are continuing the pointless adversarial stance against Russia. Whatever they do in Afghanistan is their business, not ours.
