Federalist-
America has become addicted to cheap foreign baubles and easy money (i.e., fake fiat currency) at the expense of its long-term economic health. We allowed ourselves to be transformed from a cast iron economy that made things into a largely paper economy that depends on the good graces of foreign nations for its survival. This is a recipe for civilizational suicide.
We don’t make our own weapons, food, machines, vehicles, plastics, medicines, or computers. The whole Covid insanity, with its shutdowns and shortages and supply-chain chaos, was a blaring alarm warning us that the economy we thought was so strong was shockingly fragile.
Imagine a prosperous farmer, now surrounded by enemies and competitors, who, over time, outsourced most farming activities to his neighbors because they could do the work and provide the materials more cheaply than he could. He sold off his equipment and laid off his farmhands because it was just easier and less expensive for others to do the work and maintain the machinery.
But one day, his neighbors said, “No more,” and now he finds himself unable to fertilize his land, plow his fields, or harvest his crops. Even if he had kept his old tractors and implements, he sold off all his welding equipment and spare parts and raw materials, so repairing anything would be impossible. On top of that, he doesn’t remember all that much about repairing the equipment anyway because he hasn’t done it for years.
It hit full-steam when our ‘elite’ proclaimed that we are moving into the Information Age, and no longer need/want that outdated, dangerous, polluting, hard labor, built here economy. They moved every bit of everything they could to the 3rd world to produce, and proclaimed success. Leaving millions without the ability to earn decent livings and build careers in manufacturing and related. They doubled down and pushed countless ‘D’ students into college, only to see them fail en masse. Not willing to admit their error, they created worthless degee programs (to wit ____studies, _____theory) and kept pushing.
And now it’s too obvious to ignore. $2 trillion in student debt, millions of economically worthless degreee holders, and no jobs to fall back on.
Where do we go from here? How to we un-do this?
how does the broke farmer get back in farming again? He has already sold off everything he needs.
@Zonga:
In our world, the only way for the farmer to get going again is with somebody else’s money: a loan. He needs to create a business plan laying out a time line for acquiring the means to start generating revenue as soon as possible, with the follow-on steps needed to grow (!) his business. That plan has to be written around real numbers reflecting today’s and the future’s expected prices for both what he needs to buy and what he expects to sell. He presents this plan to a bank loan officer or for that matter anyone inclined to invest in an agricultural enterprise, and asks them to loan him startup money if they agree the plan shows promise.
There’s more to this than I’ve laid out, but that’s the gist.
A good start is to nationalise Gates farm land and grant it to young families wishing to farm.
One thing if for sure, you don’t fix four years of intentional devastation with a snap of the fingers or the flip of a switch. It doesn’t work like that. It is going to take years to get back on our financial feet again with some pain along the way.
“Build Back Better” was probably the best example of how democRATz put a “nice sounding label” on an evil, nefarious attempt to destroy the nation. Proving once again that any Asshole can destroy something in a relatively short time, but that it takes brains, talent hard work, sweat, guts and time to build something… and that’s something democRATz don’t have the inclination for!
WE ARE THE ONES BUILDING BACK BETTER!
Not the Socialist/Communists!

Do a soil analysis first to make sure the soil isn’t poisoned.
They let Obama/Biden lead America to the cliff at high speed, then complain about the pain we need to go through in order to brake hard and reverse course?
Onward, President Patton!
NIdahoOrthodox,
Not just Bill Gates farmland, but China’s farmland that they ‘own’, and break up the monopoly of big Corporate farms.
And do what Toxic, etc. said to all that land.
