Tennessee Man Breaks out of Jail, Only to Return Himself 7 Hours Later

Epoch Times: A man who escaped from Tennessee prison on July 4 simply returned to the prison after seven hours, according to the police statement.

Steven Ray Hamm, 45, was detained in Humphreys County Jail as a pretrial felon where he escaped on Thursday at about 8 p.m., the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Police said he was held in the prison on charges of “theft of property, burglary of a motor vehicle, failure to appear and child support.”

“Hamm has a history of child support violations, various traffic-related offenses, and drug charges,” the Sheriff’s office added.

Police entered him as an escaped inmate after his disappearance, and had declared a cash reward for anyone who had information that could help identify his whereabouts. keep reading

  5. Wonder why it has to be that “some crazy ex” is somehow responsible for his failure to pay child support? Why not something like ” Debtors’ prison was a bad idea the first time they tried it”?

As for the traffic offenses and drug charges, it depends what they are for me to get all worked up for him to be in jail for them.

  6. Maybe he saw the ex-wife and a life of slavery and said, “fuck it, I’d rather be in jail, work out, get 3 square and be freer that if I’m on the outside paying and paying for someone else to live in my old house and Fk my ex while I live in a 1 bedroom basement that smells of piss.”

Besides, the rehab is free on the inside,

  7. Understand that the traffic offenses usually flow from the child support hearings. They revoke your license for nonpayment of child support.

Then you can’t get a job because you don’t have a license to drive to work. Then, you get called to court to explain why you’re not paying.

Then, you either find a ride or drive without a license to get to court or to take a job to pay the court. Then, you get pulled over for driving without a license.

And the vicious circle starts all over and everyone pretends this is normal and how it’s supposed to work.

Jail is probably a sweet relief compared to a ball busting ex-wife using your kids to extract the last bit of juice out of your empty husk and a court system that looks at you like a piggy bank for fee generation.
