Tens of millions of dollars went missing from Chicago Public Schools

‘As for the Chicago Teachers Union? They’ve apparently refused an audit four times.
(CPS) reported millions of dollars in tech devices lost or stolen in their first post-pandemic inventory. And let’s not overlook all of the “sexual misconduct.

  1. Well, it is Chicago. Different years, different criminals. They really need to be cut off at the federal purse strings.

Anybody giving the over/under as to how much of the “missing” equipment never actually existed?

  2. Chicago may excel at this grift, as it does in other criminal activity, but this is standard school system practice.

Years ago, a family member worked in school administration of a rural Virginia county, where baseline budgeting was used. Each year, staff was instructed to submit budget requests 10% higher than the previous year’s expenditures, even if they didn’t need anything –in order to maintain and increase their funding. The kicker was the memo that encouraged them to request high-priced small items (laptops!) rather than furniture because the system was running out of space for all the unnecessary items they had to store until they could dispose of it at the annual surplus auction. Not only did friends of staff get very good deals at ‘preview’ events held before the public auction, some items always got ‘lost in transit’ and were simply written off.

small town of 14k.The colored ladies
robbed it blind. One lady furnished her
house with the school credit card. Our
school system is now part of Texas City
    our sister city.

  4. I live in the Deep South. Forty-years ago I negotiated contracts with a Chicago based company. One of its representatives told me at the time that Chicago was recognized as the most corrupt city in the country and had been for a century. Apparently this is just the way of life there. As things have gotten worse everywhere because of liberal Democrat policy / agendas, the loss / theft of millions could be considered small beans.

  5. It’s not as though the hundreds of millions/billions that were actually spent on “education” weren’t wasted too. Government MUST be removed 100% from everything associated with educational, including doing the STEALING from everyone to pay for some.

  6. The money that “went missing” may have been (more likely than not, was) less of an incumbrance to the students future health and well being than what made it to the classroom and used to program them.
