Say, is that technology available for jets, too? 🤣
KFI: A police officer in Fremont, California, was involved in a high-speed chase when the battery on his Tesla died. Officer Jesse Hartman was leading the pursuit, which reached speeds of 120 MPH when he got an alert that his Tesla Model S patrol car had just six miles worth of battery left.
“I am down to six miles of battery on the Tesla so I may lose it here in a sec,” Hartman told the dispatcher. “If someone else is able, can they maneuver into the number one spot?” more here
LOL.
Serves them right for following greentard ideology.
I’m kind of impressed it got to 120 MPH. Did they check for fires afterwards? Does the siren change to the Waa, Waaaaa sound?
Spending tax payer money on a 6 figure police car. Unacceptable, and someone should be fired.
That cop must have been super pissed off (and embarrassed)
I was going to say that it would be cheaper to buy a standard Ford Explorer Interceptor Police car or even a Dodge Charger Police Car. The bad guys sure ain’t going to be driving an electric POS, not unless it’s stolen.
Now, now, the acceleration on those is nothing short of amazing, and handling as well since the center of gravity is so low. And cars run out of gas. Still, though…
Holding out for the Porsche.
And a winning lottery ticket.
Although I probably need to at least buy a lottery ticket for that scenario to play out…
Left Coast Dan I guess they don’t keep an extra battery in the trunk, huh? lol
Ah but then, it might not be charged either.
Given that the Tesla factory is in Fremont, I bet Elon donated several to the local PD free of charge.
Yes, the officer should be embarrassed, this is just as bad as starting your shift with half a tank of gas, a rookie mistake.
Should have carried a can of electrons just in case.
Are those double a or triple a man. Yeah, I’ll give you a jump.
I thought they all carried a hamster and a wheel in the trunk as a backup charging device.
They should have propellers on the roof to charge the battery as they go down the road. Wouldn’t it charge faster during a high speed pursuit?
Very fuel efficient… until you have to tow ’em home!!
A friend bought some POS Chevy plug-in electric car, but was worried about going on a long trip, in case he ran out of battery. I offered to loan him my Honda generator to take with him.
@MJA:
Heh! This might qualify as a koan:
How do you carry a battery in the trunk
when the trunk is a cavity in your battery?
That’s why Globull Warming is the greatest threat we face.
When we cure Climate Changeâ„¢, there will be no more crime.
