California: Tesla Police Car’s Battery Runs Out During High-Speed Chase

KFI: A police officer in Fremont, California, was involved in a high-speed chase when the battery on his Tesla died. Officer Jesse Hartman was leading the pursuit, which reached speeds of 120 MPH when he got an alert that his Tesla Model S patrol car had just six miles worth of battery left.

“I am down to six miles of battery on the Tesla so I may lose it here in a sec,” Hartman told the dispatcher. “If someone else is able, can they maneuver into the number one spot?” more here

  1. Now, now, the acceleration on those is nothing short of amazing, and handling as well since the center of gravity is so low. And cars run out of gas. Still, though…
    Holding out for the Porsche.
    And a winning lottery ticket.
    Although I probably need to at least buy a lottery ticket for that scenario to play out…

  2. Given that the Tesla factory is in Fremont, I bet Elon donated several to the local PD free of charge.

    Yes, the officer should be embarrassed, this is just as bad as starting your shift with half a tank of gas, a rookie mistake.
