Texas: Runoff Likely As Col. Allen West Soars Past Incumbent Greg Abbott

National File:

New polling data from Paradigm Partners LLC shows support for Lt. Col. Allen West trending upwards of 40%. West — who previously served as a U.S. Rep. — is mounting a serious primary challenge to incumbent Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott.  West launched his Texas gubernatorial bid less than a year after being elected Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas.

Paradigm’s most recent statewide poll has West earning the support of 42.61 percent of voters who have voted in at least two out of the last four Republican primaries, a group consisting of approximately 1,900,000 voters. The peer-to-peer text poll had over 1,500 respondents and a +/- 2.49 percent margin of error. Abbott polled at 73% last summer prior to West’s entry to the race, but dropped to 34.18% in the latest poll. In order to avoid a run-off election against West, Abbott needs to get 51% of the Republican vote. If current polling data holds up, a runoff is all but guaranteed. The likely run-off election will take place on May 24.

The poll also shows West beating presumptive Democratic gubernatorial nominee Beto O’Rourke in the general election. O’Rourke beats Abbott in the general, per the poll. read more

  1. I’ll take West for Governor and Louie Gohmert for Attorney General. Some question Louie’s intentions. I choose to believe he is answering the pleas of many supports, myself included, to leave the federal cesspool, come home, and help save Texas.

  2. Abbott sux. He’s allowed 2 million illegals to cross the border when he should have had the National Guard pulling duty on Nov 4/2020. He continues to encourage a vast demographic shift with the mass emigration of corporations that are bringing 100s of 1,000s of tools to Texas.

Every large urban area is solid blue and soon enough it going to be exactly like CO with a handful of dense urban counties running the state. 10-20,000 people a month are moving into DFW alone!

When West was a Rep in Fl he voted for Pigford and said he hadn’t done his homework on it. At least he copped to a mistake, I’ll give him that.

Personally I love Huffines. Heres an ad-https://twitter.com/donhuffines/status/1446494111096315907?s=21

  3. I have yet to see a single campaign ad for Col. West, but the media here is currently saturated with ads for Huffines. I’m sick of it already, and it’s only February.
