What was once a mere plot of a 1963 horror-thriller classic ‘The Birds’, a 1963 film produced and directed by Alfred Hitchcock, has developed into a real-life nightmare for multiple coastal cities in Scotland.
Starring Rod Taylor and Tippi Hedren, ‘The Birds’ focuses on a series of sudden and unexplained violent bird attacks on the people of Bodega Bay, California, over the course of a few days.
In Scotland, on the other hand, there is an explanation for the ongoing seagull invasion – the dwindling fish populations pushing the birds further and further inland – and unlike the movie, the sea birds are there to stay.
The situation in the city of Elgin has become so bad that the residents have been asked to report if the ‘dive-bombing’ seagulls are affecting their mental health. more here
The Birds original movie was based on an incident of birds attacking people that was later found to be some kind of bacterial infection that had screwed up the birds.
Bird problem? Call 1 800 Haitians. soon you birds will be gone.

@ Jethro….I believe that seagulls are a protected bird, federal offense to shoot them, but they make excellent bait for catching shrimp in a shrimp trap. Somehow a few fell into our shrimp traps when I was in Alaska….I think it was seagull suicide…
Rats with wings!
Why are they protected?

@willysgoatgruff — You could make almost the same argument about actual rodent rats and it would be just as dumb.
If the gulls weren’t protected and we could shoot lots of them, then gull demand for coastal breeding grounds would be a lot lower, and we could put up more developments by the beaches. If we killed a lot of them, we’d all be better off! Yay!

“Migratory Bird Treaty Act”
Ducks and geese migrate and we shoot the sh-t out of them.
Even crows are considered “migratory” and we shoot the sh-t out of them too.
What is special about these rats with wings?
pigeons are rats with wings, like pedocrats…they land, eat, shit, & fly off
Time to start pumping up the bagpipes…

Seagulls have white privilege….
They’ve been protected for a long time? Why? All they do is eat dead stuff and shit. I killed one once. I expect this to be kept a secret. I was fishing on our local lake. Decided to move from the south fork of the lake to the north side. I had the bass blaster trimmed and rolling at 75 mph when out of the blue this sky carp made a dive for something right in front of the pointy end of my boat. His beak missed hitting the w
water by about an inch.
Sorry, new tablet
Why did the ancient Egyptians make cats into objects to almost worship? The cats removed both mice and birds from the Egyptian crop fields.
Birds can destroy crops by eating seeds, and maybe do other destructive things. I don’t know all the reasons. The cats helped to keep the population of pests low enough to reduce the risks of having entire crops destroyed. I like birds and do not consider them to be pests, but to a farmer, they may be. That’s why they put scarecrows in thier fields.
Break an Alka Seltzer into four pieces and toss them into the air. It does a number on the vile birds.

Says all that needs to be said about Scotland.

Don’t do it in public.
Don’t do it in front of security cameras.
Don’t post a video of it.
Don’t brag about it.
I was shooting prairie dogs on BLM land just north of Ft Peck reservoir ~1980 – 1995 and when I went to sleep in the back of the pickup there would be about 500 to a thousand laying about. When I woke up to a hell of a racket there must have been 5,000 or more seagulls all covered in blood fighting over them. Hawks and eagles didn’t stand a chance getting any if the seaguls showed up.
The prairie dogs got sylvatic plague and died out up there in the late 1990’s, but back in the day there must have been millions of them in that area.
The BLM used to print maps that they would send out to anyone interested in shooting prairie dogs back then. One of the best part of those trips was that B1 bombers out of Minot used to fly up the breaks of the Missouri and we would be looking down on them from the rim.
