The Car of the Future just hit a speed bump

Patriot Retort: Remember when Barack Obama turned up to celebrate Chevy’s Car of the Future? After using taxpayer money to bail out GM, Obama couldn’t wait to become the celebrity endorser of the new, innovative electric boondoggle-mobiles known as the Volt and the Cruze.

In addition to posing behind the wheel of the Volt, Barry even autographed one of the newly created vehicles with the inscription “The Car of the Future! – Barack Obama.”

He was so proud of his foray into automotive manufacturing, wasn’t he? In fact, he bragged that as soon as he left office, he was going to buy one.

Yeah. He didn’t.

Problem is, he wasn’t alone. Apparently nobody was particularly interested in Obama’s Car of the Future.

And as a result, Chevrolet announced that in 2019, they will no longer be manufacturing this modern-day Edsel.  more here

  1. I looked at the picture of the car and noticed it had B.O.; Barry actually warned us off of this boondoggle in his self-glorification. Barry – Smart Choice-1 / Stupid Choice-∞.

  2. It wasn’t the tech that killed the car, it was its small size, combined with a massive consumer move to SUVs & crossovers. In the 1960’s, Detroit began a fixation with longer, lower cars. SUVs are more like the cars of the 1930’s through mid-1950’s, much more people and cargo friendly. Many consider the Volt to be the best-built, highest-quality car GM makes. But none of that matters if you can’t fit in it.

    Yeah. He didn’t.”

Obola should be forced to use his obamastash to buy out the lot of this worthless garbage. He can stick them all up his stretched out anus.

All that lithium mined for nada. Oh Gaia, we have tormented you so!

A real Media (and comedians, for that matter) would be salivating at the opportunity to expose/mock and VILIFY this stupid, treasonous vandal.

  4. In 2009, Obama bailed out GM to the tune of millions of dollars, yet here we are, 9 years later and GM is closing 5 factories and eliminating 14,000 jobs.

How many times do we have to tell these brain-dead liberals that government should not pick winners and losers in the marketplace? Let the market decide (i.e. real people, making millions of purchasing decisions), that the government cannot ever replicate.

If I had a penny for every time that I said that the big Zero should go fuck himself, then I would be a millionaire.

  5. Beat me to it TIM.
    6k$ for the battery.
    Also word to the wise=
    Don’t mess with those batteries,
they ain’t your old 13.8 vdc car battery.
    They pack a lethal 330 volts D.C. !

  6. And if the temperature falls below a reasonably cold value (like sub-zero for days), the battery is permanently damaged.

(On the phone, husband to wife:)
“Honey, did you remember to plug in the car last Friday night? It’s -28F and I’m worried about it.”
    “I thought I did… lemme check…”
    “No.”
    “Oh, crap.”

  7. I feel like I’ve seen a unicorn any time I see a Chevy Volt that’s still on the road. I remember when they were pimping them that they would post monthly sales figures and it was always abysmal.

A $60k car, subsidized down to a price tag of $35k with a useful battery life of 3-5 years that costs as much as $30k to replace. In for a penny, in for a pound I suppose.

If I’m spending $60k on a car over the course of 3-5 years, I’m getting something awesome. Not a rolling birth control pill with a 50 mile range that looks like a Chevy Cruze from the not-too-distant future.
