President Biden’s high-stakes press conference at this week’s NATO summit was a triumph—for his challenger, former president Trump.
Why? Because Biden’s performance did nothing to resolve the Democratic Party’s dilemma over his status as its 2024 presidential candidate. The press conference supplied Biden’s internal critics with ammunition against his candidacy, such as when he misidentified Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump.” But Biden’s answers on foreign-policy questions were also strong enough to reassure, at least for the moment, his allies within the party. The result is that Biden lives to fight another day as the Democrats’ presumptive nominee.
Which is exactly what Trump wants. Since Biden’s terrible debate performance on June 27, the former president has basked in the best of both worlds: Biden has struggled to put down the revolt within his party, while sinking in popularity and trailing Trump in national polling averages as well as in swing states.

Biden can state that he is switching the US from the dollar to the peso, and particularly the Democrats will focus on this as a gaffe instead of any type of crazy substantive policy statement.
Throughout his political career, Biden has engaged in outrageous political spew. Prior to Biden’s disastrous debate performance, he knew that the corporate media would cover for him, so he could say anything he wanted. During the last debate, Biden’s biggest failing was that he was frequently incoherent, mumbled, and generally looked like a zombie – but had Biden made his statements and misstatements with vigor, the press would have covered for him. The corporate press scrutinizes Trump’s statements and frequently takes them out of context to make Trump look evil; but Biden’s blatherings are, in and of themselves, given a free pass.
At this point, I think Trump is doing the absolute right thing: let the Democrats continue to self-destruct and focus on policy. It is true that most Americans are now focused on a President with apparent brain deterioration, but at the end of the day they should remember that Trump focused on his vision for the country.

True. I was referring more to some of the outrageous claims he was making. Interestingly enough during that clown show was I think the first time I’ve ever heard him talk policy. And it was on growing the already booming economy he’s created. Cough! “We’re going to grow the economy from the middle and bottom up. Trickle down doesn’t work. It’s been proven”.
