The EARN IT act is back for a second attempt to ban private messaging

Reclaim The Net: The often-criticized EARN IT (Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies) Act of 2020 is once again in the spotlight, as this legislation first proposed in 2020 is being reintroduced in the US Senate.

We obtained a copy of the new text of the bill for you here.

Its stated goal is to bring changes to the Section 230 of the Communication Act in a way that would make tech platforms more liable, by taking away some protections they have historically enjoyed, justifying this with the need to better protect children online and prevent their abuse. Those behind the EARN IT Act say they want to incentivize social media to suppress child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

For this reason, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children was among the organizations who endorsed the original EARN IT Act, as has been the National Center on Sexual Exploitation. read more

In the same way the ACLU is attempting to force VA and other states to reimpose mask mandates, by representing a few children whom they claim would be put at risk of Covid if the vast majority of children were allowed to lose the masks. Leftists pretend to care about kids, but all they want to do is use and abuse them in the name of power.

  2. How about parents just not give their kids cell phones and actually do their job as parents and monitor online activity?

    Grahamnesty is evil. Sen. Skeletor too. Must be Chinese money in it for them.

    As crazy as my ex daughter in law is she was smart about this. She got our grandson an ipod for only music and a couple of games with one app that allows her to talk to him.
