The McRib is back

KFI: McRib lovers rejoice – your favorite sandwich has returned to 10,000 McDonald’s restaurants around the country – but you’ll want to hurry because it’ll only be featured on the menu for a limited time.

The seasoned boneless pork sandwich featuring tangy barbecue sauce and topped with onions on a sesame seed roll, made its legendary debut back in 1981, but a lackluster response to the sandwich led the company to remove it from its menus four years later. However, the McRib had some developed some devoted fans, prompting McDonald’s to bring the sandwich in 1989. After 2006, the restaurant introduced the McRib as a seasonal item, with the sandwich occasionally appearing on menus across the country for a limited time. read more

  1. Krusty: “Look, about the ribwitch; there aren’t going to be any more of them. The animal that we made ’em from has been hunted to extinction.”

    Lenny: “Cow?”
    Carl: “Pig?”

    Krusty: “You’re WAY off…Think smaller…think MORE legs!”

  2. Speaking of Spam, Spam With Bacon is not too bad.

Chop it up and put it in your omelet. It’ll make your beard grow, Uncle Al.

Or have Spam Spam eggs and Spam.

Or for a little variety, have Spam and eggs and Spam.

  3. McD’s best days for fast food are long gone. $0.15 hamburgers were dining out food for a low budget college couple. Nasty, gooey paste on a bun is really scraping the bottom of the scrap barrel now!

  4. I’m 40 miles from a franchised hamburger joint…20 miles from a Subway…..Sometimes I crave Taco Bells bean burritos or a good ol’ fashioned gas station chili cheese dog. I can reproduce those like butta…
My White Castle sliders are things of beauty…..I’m pretty sure that I’ve never had a McRib. My ribs are slow smoked for about 4 hours, slathered in sauce and will make your tongue slap your brain silly….

  5. Had one of these … things … once. Yuk.

When I lived in MN, I used to go to Rudolphs Bar-B-Que. Yum!

Had great BBQ at Joe Dan’s (Intellectual Froglegs) cookout in August.

🎶The kind of pigs we love to eat
🎶And we use every bit but the feet.

Apologies for co-opting Martin Mull’s jingle for his mythological chain, Bun and Run.

Announcer’s voice….within hours after they seem dead they’re quick frozen.

  7. I actually like McRib’s, but I haven’t had one in years. I did make some a couple of years ago…On-Cor BBQ rib patties, sub roll, pickles and onions. Wasn’t bad. Um yeah, why did I share that? haha

  8. Years ago I liked the McRib, a few years back when they brought it back I tried one and it was inedible. I went to McDonalds Saturday because my grandkids wanted a happy meal. It was over $40 for 5 of us to eat, with two of them eating kids meals. My Big Mac and fries were both disgusting.

Saturday night on the way to derby we stopped and fed them Wendys, 6 of us that time ate for under $30 and got way more food that you could actually eat.
I kind of think McDonalds is lying and is already serving plant burgers.

  9. @PHenry ~ loved ‘Ferwood Tonight’ (one of the most underated tv shows of the ’70’s imo)… they actually had it on every weeknight, the first year … I think something like 65 episodes
the Alien Abduction episodes (season 1, episode 27/28) w/ Fanny Flagg & Kenny Mars were some of the greatest ad-lib comedy ever! … “I was there, it looked like a toaster!”, “You better be quiet or I’ll come over there & snap your chinstrap!”

    … classic!
