No, Ted Cruz Isn’t Having a Booty Call Raffle.
Back in April, the Ted Cruz campaign had a fundraiser in which one could win an afternoon “shooting with Ted,” so on the one hand, it’s not surprising that when a “Netflix and chill” fundraiser went out people believed it.
In other ways, however, because of the meaning of that phrase; it is surprising . . . simply because the Cruz campaign has been pretty savvy thus far about not making such cultural and social media faux pas. more here
If it was Slick Willie, I’d believe it except it would have to be a woman with low morals only. ” Hey, Baby, would you like to come over to my pad and watch Netflix and chill with me.” Hubba, Hubba!
Love all the “uhh” & “umm” in the comments at the link. Individually, they’re not much, but the more you read, the more it sounds like a herd of lofo cattle.
From the comments at Legal Insurrection, I’m not the only one who has never heard of this phrase.
I’ve heard the phrase before, however I deciphered it within another context which was, watch some Netflix and light up.
However this is also interesting, I had no idea there was a Black Twitter.
The phrase first started appearing online in late 2014, mostly through Black Twitter. On October 8th, 2014, Twitter user @itsIsaaaaaaac
Not much of a “hipster”. Never heard of the phrase before, although I would love to go shooting with Ted!
I’ll bet all those progs (although I assume that a number were a number of self-styled wits) were congratulating themselves on the wittiness of their comments. I wonder how many got messages that it was a fake they were too consumed by their own conceit to realize it was a fake. What dorks.
netflix and chill referrs to hanging out at home with a significant other and watching netflix. After a little while you get “frisky” there on the couch. As far as I know it doesn’t involve lighting up.
Unless the person is VERY VERY good, most digital leaves a “fingerprint” that can be traced back. I hope Cruz’s campaign can find the person that posted that hoax and (in the immortal words of Monty Python) “whack his pee pee”.
