The Occupy ICE Protest Camp In Portland Has A Border Wall

DC: The anti-borders activists camped outside a federal government office in Portland may detest President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, but they’ve adopted a major one — building a border wall.

Since June, activists in the so-called Occupy ICE protest group have been constructing a tent city across the street from the Portland field office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The camp has become a base of operations for protesters who’ve managed to force the office to shut down on multiple occasions.

The protest began in response to the Trump administration’s policy of separating illegal immigrant families while prosecuting adults for unlawful entry. It has since morphed into a broader demonstration against the U.S. immigration system in general, with protesters advocating for open borders and the dismantling of ICE, the government’s main immigration law enforcement agency.

When it comes to building a barrier to keep out unwanted visitors, however, the Occupy ICE protesters and Trump appear to be on the same page. As Portland police prepared to evict the protesters on Wednesday morning, they hastily erected a wall of crates, tarps and furniture around their camp.

Independent journalist Andy Ngo, who followed police as they posted eviction notices inside the camp, documented the improvised border barrier. MORE

  1. Same people every protest. The most effective weapon against many of them would be to zero out their EBT cards. Unfortunately, some of these people actually live in their parent’s basements (no joke). It would be nice to know how much PDX is spending on dealing with these loons, especially since many of them just suck off the system, their parents or try and justify donations to their GoFundMe type of accounts on their social media.

  2. Portland is a stupid city, full of assholes trying to make a living off their idiotic street art or, when that doesn’t work, panhandling. The town is trying to be Manhattan West with nutball art pieces bought by the city and installed all over the smelly place.

  3. To Tim,
Portland, in the 70’s was awesome. I went to many concerts there and then. A friend went to PSU and lived right in the middle of it.
Then, time passed, and I ended up going to many meetings for numerous days. Being a stump jumper from the Orygun coast, Portland was still a fascinating thing, sort of. Then somehow, somewhat later, my daughter graduated from PSU, just in time, I might add, to escape the millennial crisis. That being said, I am really sad to see Portland deteriorate like this. I worked for a month doing fish research in downtown Portland, in 1988, in March, all night long, in an open boat, in the rain, mostly. It seemed sort of surrealistic, but the reality of the place soon became apparent. And Even then, the beach on the south side of Swan Island had scores of syringes littering the beach.

    Sad.

Oh, the Paramount Theatre! Now called the Schnizter.
    Portland is a cesspool now.

I hear you, sir. I was there twice on work assignments. As an example of crazed art, there is the “sculpture” in front of what used to be a ballpark for a former minor league team, now a soccer stadium. It’s a big head, but supposed to be a little kid, with holes all over his face. The holes are supposed to represent freckles, I suppose. I thought it was about the stupidest civil art work I’ve ever seen.

  5. Drove through there yesterday on my way home from work, the car in front of me had a bumper sticker on it that said, Make America a shit hole again-
    vote Democrat.
My guess is they don’t park their car there.
Portland is all that, and then some.
