The Only Reason To Leak That SCOTUS Opinion Is To Bully Justices Into Submission

Federalist: The Supreme Court will overturn the landmark decision of Roe v. Wade in June, Politico reported Monday night.

The Supreme Court will overturn the landmark decision of Roe v. Wade in June, Politico reported Monday night, with an apparent draft of the majority opinion leaked to the beltway magazine. Never before has a full draft opinion been pre-emptively leaked to the press in the modern history of the court, and it was leaked this week for one reason: to incite violence and bully justices into changing their votes.

“The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision – Planned Parenhood v. Casey – that largely maintained the right,” Politico reported, with conservative Justice Samuel Alito writing the majority opinion drafted in February.

Draft opinions are not final. Justices can and often do change their minds throughout the writing process. The published opinion in Politico will only add fuel to the fire on one of the most politically sensitive topics in the country. Its premature release designed to place undemocratic pressure on justices to bend their opinion in conformity with loud extremist voices already waging insurrectionist threats on the court. MORE

  1. The left never plays fair, but it will hold their enemies to the letter of the law even if they have to make it up, see Trump.
They have no moral compass whatsoever.

  2. “bully justices into changing their votes’

Hi! We’re the new right speak folks and that doesn’t sound quite right.
    Let’s clean it up, OK?
We can all do it together
The Justices don’t “change their votes,” they trade them.
There, that sounds better, and everyone is happy now.

  3. And it will work with that piece of shit Roberts. Just watch. He’ll vote to keep RvW without one fucking iota of legal reasoning behind it other than “stare decisis” (i.e. Duuuh… It’s what we’ve always done… derp.).

  4. I don’t agree with the premise of the article.

The reasons? In the near term, take the focus off of 2000 Mules. Longer term, make the mid-terms all about abortion while taking attention away from the failures of the progressive agenda.

I believe the leak was timed. To paraphrase Nancy, it was just another arrow in their quiver. There will be more arrows.

  5. Justice Roberts is so mad about this trial balloon—uh, leak—that he’s going to find out who did it, or have another seizure. Whichever comes first.

  6. This may be one aspect but they needed something to energize their base. Nothing better than engineering raw insane anger. And it is manufactured – as if we are to believe the minute this leaked thousands of people many preprinted signs suddenly appear in DC.

  7. I thought exactly the same thing about 2,000 Mules mystaclean. Bet your ass that it will get a big fat 0 minutes coverage on all of the alphabets.

The truth is 2,000 Mules is based on tracking data. As well as video evidence of felonies. Of course there were videos of suitcases of ballots being pulled out from under tables in counting centers and being run through counting machines multiple times.

Tell me, just WTF was ever done? Oh yeah, the FBI sent 30 agents to “investigate” a garage door pull.

  8. @TheMule is absolutely correct. One of the so-called “conservative” justice’s will chicken. Not Robert’s, we all can see right through him. My guess would be Amy Coney Barrett. Yes, I know that she has 50 or 60 children, I just see her as being spineless, just like her boss, the chief justice. I wonder how long it will be before the rainbow jihad come for Robert’s? After all, he is the “chief” justice. That must trigger all of the native Americans.

  9. We’re supposed to care… worship… obey? The burpings of creatures that declare, proudly, themselves “No better than Sotomayor.”?

Why don’t you get right on that, Timmeh! ?
