I’m being considered as a candidate for surgery that will likely involve a couple units of blood transfusions. I’ve been getting a little bit of resistance in how to donate my own blood for the possible transfusions. I will turn down the surgery if there is a chance I’d get vaxxed blood donations. I’ve gotten really good care so far from UW, but I’m not getting answers on my own blood donation.
AARP is a Libtard Lobbying group funded by old people. Many of them elderly Conservatives. That cut rate cellular plan is not worth it. Avoid them.

How far away is your surgery? Can’t you have your own blood drawn and saved? I’d give you some of mine but I’m a quart low. Plus it glows in the dark.

I can’t believe there isn’t a well known policy already in place. It seems if you’re willing to get jabbed you get answers. From my experience, you need to put your foot down and tell them this is a priority for you. Look them in the eye so they get the point. And then they’ll follow up. I wish I could tell you this is how I handle my docs but that would be a lie. This is how my wife handle my docs.LOL, I think.
AARP supported the passage of Obamacare. I was neutral to them before that, and they were dead to me afterwards.
I can assure you, if I can’t donate my blood, or my family’s blood I’m not going through the surgery. I have no problem drawing the line.

When I had my knees replaced in 2009 there was a policy in place to donate and use your own blood. This was a hospital in Akron, OH. Every hospital should have a policy.
Are you near northeast Ohio? I can a unit or a pint of O+.

When I had my back surgery in 2021, I asked the same thing. My surgeon said it wasn’t necessary as they collect my own blood from the surgery and have it available if I need it. Said they have been doing it for years and it’s always worked out fine.
If they won’t do that for you, I would insist that they accept your blood you give to yourself. Can’t imagine they, being greedy, would risk losing money for something like that!

Regarding your concerns for blood containing COVID vaccine:
Blood collection centers do not collect vaccination status information and do not include vaccinated status information on the label of blood products. Additionally COVID and/or vaccine components are not transmitted through blood, so if you did need a transfusion, there would be no risk of you receiving any part of the vaccine.
