The Word ‘Derp’ Is Now Offensive

COTR: In that case, I’m going to take every opportunity I can to use the word “derp.”  Beginning with calling these morons out for their derpy derpitude.

According to this, two scholars have been forced to apologize by some social justice scold for their use of the term. More accurately, it was the adjective form – “derpy.” See, if you say someone is being derpy, that’s an ableist slur and might make people with disabilities feel bad. So don’t say it! Not unless you want some super-courageous social justice warrior up in your face.

That’s the excuse, anyway. I just think it’s an attempt to rob people of more creative vocabulary to use to describe how utterly stupid and moronic social justice whiners are when they complain about the words people use.

  1. It’s not fair. I’d never even heard of the word before it was declared off limits and never had a chance to use it. I think I’m entitled to a five year grace period in which I can say “Derp!” all I want.

    Derptrolling (sometimes referred to as Derp) is the name of a hacker group that was active from 2011 to 2014. They largely used Twitter to coordinate distributed denial of service attacks on various high traffic websites. In December 2013 they managed to bring down large gaming sites such as League of Legends in an attempt to troll popular livestreamer PhantomL0rd. Public reaction to their presence has been generally negative, largely owing to the unclear nature of their motives.
