I was laid-off from my STEM job after working there for more than 15 years. Was replaced by some Indian immigrant who was paid only about 60% of what I was being paid. Yes, I am a victim of H1-B visa abuse.
Follow the money. Big business making large contributions to campaign funding? Promise of high paying salaries as officers of companies upon leaving office? Kids/relatives suddenly getting great jobs? Start by getting rid of lobbying and lobbyists. Politics is nothing but corruption and greased palms.
the only shortage is a shortage of low paid foreign workers the companies can exploit, not of citizens who worked up ladder while helping build the business and making it profitable to a bigger salary than the one they signed on at.
this is not a labor problem but a moral problem
And it drives down the wages of the Americans still employed.
