This is the first Tom Macdonald video that I made it to the end.
I get what he is trying to do; bridge the gap, make it seem like our differences are trivial and can be worked out, youngsters and their optimism. I just don’t see the road out of this, the divide is too great.
OT, I had to share this; I just saw the mic-drop political ad of all political ads, I want this guy as my neighbor;
During my career, I was called every name you can think(maybe!) and I liked to say, “Is THAT the best you can do?!”. ๐

The ‘-phobic’ is what gets me the most. No, people aren’t *afraid* of those who think sex is a mutable thing, they just don’t buy into it. Nor are they *afraid* of Muslims, or gay people, etc. And they can usually explain in a pretty rational matter what their issue is, because they are actually capable of discussion and debate.

I fear no queer.

Conservative Cowgirl – I used to tell ’em that I’d been insulted by a far higher class of people than them.

Joseph Megessey, a character played by De Niro (of all the maggots) said something to the effect in the film, “Jacknife”, “I’ve been cussed out worse by old ladies and queers…”

You can be insulted only by someone whose judgment you respect. All others can only pretend to insult you. When you tell someone this, he tends to get angry and then stupidly tries to insult you more even though you’ve already told him clearly why it’s pointless.

At LCD,
THEY know that we are not frightened by any of those people, but THEY currently control the language and bend it to their will in order to attempt to use it against us through speech and media. God wins!

One of the advantages of being teased as a kid, you develop a thick skin when it comes to being called names.
I used to tell my kids and the kids at the school where I worked, “try growing up a skinny, flat chested red head with my name”.

Like a wise man named Gillian once said, sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. So please donโt throw sticks and stones!

“They’re Just Names” until you through them at a democrap.
Bigot, racist, deplorable, a whole litany of -phobics, meh, just playground names, something that may or may not be true.
It’s an opinion, like assholes, everybody has one.
The names I would really hate to be called:
O’Baja, Schumer, McConnell, Songbird, Biden, Schwab, Rothschild, you get the drift.
Like Beachmom, didn’t fit in when I moved to the deep South, have experienced name calling back when it was considered an art form.

It’s not what they call you,
but what you answer to.
