Today I Stopped Caring – IOTW Report

Today I Stopped Caring

Today, I stopped caring about my fellow man. I stopped caring about my community, my neighbors, and those I serve.

Furseth1

I stopped caring today because a once noble profession has become despised, hated, distrusted, and mostly unwanted.

I stopped caring today because parents refuse to teach their kids right from wrong and blame us when they are caught breaking the law. I stopped caring today because parents tell their little kids to be good or “the police will take you away” embedding a fear from year-one. Moms hate us in their schools because we frighten them and remind them of the evil that lurks in the world. They would rather we stay unseen, but close by if needed, but readily available to “fix their kid”.

I stopped caring today because we work to keep our streets safe from mayhem in the form of reckless, drunk, high, or speeding drivers, only to be hated for it, yet hated even more because we didn’t catch the drunk before he killed someone they may know. Never less, we are just another tool used by government to generate “revenue”.

I stopped caring today because Liberals hate the police as we carry guns, scare kids, and take away their drugs. We always kill innocent people with unjust violence. We are called bullies for using a taser during a fight, but are condemned further for not first tasing the guy who pulls a gun on us. And if we do have to shoot, we are asked “why didn’t you just shoot the gun out of their hand?” And when one of us is killed by the countless attacks that do happen (but are rarely reported in the mainstream media) the haters say, “It’s just part of the job”.

I stopped caring today because Conservatives hate us as we are “the Government”. We try to take away their guns, freedoms, and liberty at every turn. We represent a “Police State” where “jackbooted-badge wearing thugs” randomly attack innocent people without cause or concern for constitutional rights. We are Waco, Ruby Ridge, and Rodney King all rolled into one lone police officer stopping to help change an old lady’s tire.

I stopped caring today as no one wants us around, but instantly demands answers, results, arrests, when a crime takes place. If a crime isn’t solved within the allocated 60 minutes it takes CSI on television, we are inept, incompetent, or covering something up. If we do get “lucky” it was just that and everyone with a Facebook account can post wonderful comments of how “they” would solve the case and how “we” and not nearly as clever.

I stopped caring today because a video of a cop six states away, from a department that you never heard of, screws up and forgets his oath of honor, thus firing up an internet lynch-mob of cop haters because “we all do the same things” even though 99% of us work twice as hard not to end up in the news and to still be “the good guys”. We are “militarized” because we wear body armor and kevlar helmets when shots are fired or rocks thrown at us and carry scary looking rifles even though everyone knows that they are easier to shoot and are more accurate than a handgun or a shotgun.

I stopped caring today because the culture of today’s instantly connected youth is only there to take and never give back. To never accept responsibility for ones actions, but to blame everyone else instead of themselves. To ask “what is in it for me?” versus “what can I do for you?” To idolize gangsters, thugs, sexual promiscuous behavior, and criminals over hard work, dedication, and achievement. To argue that getting stoned should be a right, yet getting a job or an education is a hassle. To steal versus earn. To hate versus help.

Yes, I stopped caring today.

But tomorrow, I will put my uniform back on and I will care again.

  1. I know a lot of cops. They are good men and women who, given the chance, would rather save a life any day then have to take one at all cost. It’s a hard job that most couldn’t handle. It takes a special kind of person to put on a blue uniform. And yes, there are some bad apples, and those who shouldn’t be cops. But I always make it a point to greet a policeman when I see one, just as I thank a serviceman or women when I see them in uniform.

I’m sure a lot of cops feel the same way Lt. Furseth does right now. God Bless Them.

    If not for them……….

  2. I said it before and I will say it again. The “communities” who hate the police so much should just become “police free” and let the thugs take over. Those communities would rather have the criminals run rampant and hate the police, so screw them. Let them live under that liberal “utopia” occupation, where nobody will care, no politician will give a crap other than to give lip service. Hollywood elite regressives will never lift a finger to help them and the Huff Poo droppings of the world will applaud the police free areas and yet stay strangely quiet as thugs have their way and run amok at the expense of young kids getting bullets in their heads and elderly folks being beaten for their meager cash.

  3. obola wrote a term paper at Harvard about how a subversive preznit working in tandem with a reckless racist attorney general can widely rend the social fabric of the greatest nation in the world in just a few short years.

Check it out, the paper is right there in his klown kollege transcripts !

  4. Diogenes pretty much covered it. I too know many many cops and most LEOs are good people and the lib media only looks for the few bad apples to demean and condemn the whole profession.

So as RW said remove all police presence in the ghettos and see how long it takes those folks to scream for help. We now live in a society where the left wishes to reward bad behavior and punish good behavior. Evil is alive and well on earth.

  5. When our county was preparing to elect a new sheriff, one of the candidates asked if he could address our patriot group. During the Q&A one of his more troubling answers was that those going into the profession aren’t looking at it as their life’s work. “We spend hundreds of thousands of dollars training them, and they stay a year or two and move on to something that pays more but requires a law-enforcement background. There doesn’t seem to be a ‘calling’ anymore.”

John Whitehead, author and head of a civil liberties organization, says that police academies no longer teach the Constitution, which is why (and how) we’re so easily reverting to this police state.

  6. Most big city cops disagree with Lt. Furseth.
Big city police and fire unions fully support Democrat politicians and their anti-cop agenda.
You would think that in a rational world cops would support pro law and order, pro-constitutional, pro- family, pro-American politicians.
    Karma is a bitch.

  7. @Bitterclinger – I noticed the same thing when I retired. Cops getting very militaristic and forgetting about their public servant function. My old chief wouldn’t stand for that.

After 9/11 it got worse as the amount of available overtime skyrocketed and the feds moved a lot of surplus mil equipment into the departments.

  8. This is what the “leadership” of the Left brings: Chaos.
White is black, left is right and anything good is now bad in the era of liberal “Utopia” where they are only too glad to shut us down for our own “protection” using their brand of convoluted, ginned-up, wrap-around, pretzel-logic.
We will then “rejoice” in the new Communism of unnecessary, over-reaching, out-of-control, over-bearing, “regulation”, brought to you by Presidential fiat (exectutive actions), where the Communists will gladly buy the next election with foreign money and proclaim wins with 100% of the vote.
We’re not quite there yet, but that’s the path we’re headed down!

  9. Unfortunately, much of the resentment towards police is self-inflicted. Liberal-college-educated, and union-loyal cops now dominate many big city departments. Dispropornate pay and benifits further the resentment of the public.

  10. I’ve known a lot of cops, and also volunteer unpaid ‘auxiliary’ cops. Most are good people.
Many are extremely concerned about the increasing militarism imposed on police by Federal money, free DoD equipment and increasing Fed influence over police training for the last 20 years.

Obama raising the trial balloon of ‘nationalizing’ the police recently is alarming. This is how the Left unveils its strategy, one new power-grab at a time.

Over the next few years we will hear a increasing propaganda drumbeat for ‘nationalizing’ police as a new Federal agency (KGB/Stasi/SS as the template).

The media will dutifully do their part. We will be told that local police departments are inconsistently and poorly trained, full of racists that would be weeded out under wonderful new Federal control, insufficiently equipped, and so on. We will be told that Federal control will magically cure all these “problems”.

Look for a lot more to be staged as the Left tries to manufacture a crisis to rally the low-info’s behind the “National Police” concept.

At the same time, recently imported Mexican gangs (both warring Cartel members and free lance thugs) will become more obvious. There may be Capone-style shooting wars in US cities as have become common in Mexico. And the Feds will use that to sell ‘National Police’ to the Lib core coalition… People who would be outraged if ‘National Police’ were suggested by Republicans.

  11. RIGHTWINGER is spot on. Take Baltimore, erect a 20′ wall around it, remove all the police, and leave the politicians in there as well.

We’d soon see how the DA, Mayor, and loudmouth racist city councilmen would fare. They’re big cop bashers while being escorted by the same.

  12. No police might mean the armed citizens get to clean out the cockroaches without the hindrance of the court system.

    I could live with that.

It could also mean hunting expeditions being chartered into “no man’s land”. “Fair game” may mean you don’t live through it as a hunter.

I could live with that too. Sounds fair. I’ll take those odds.

Damn, I think I’m in a “tired of this sh*t” mood tonight.
