TOKYO — President Trump announced Toyota has promised $10 billion in investments toward new manufacturing plants in the US — urging people to “go out and buy a Toyota” in a wide-ranging speech to sailors aboard the USS George Washington Tuesday in Tokyo Bay.
Trump, who is making trade and economic deals a top goal of his three-nation regional tour, said that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi told him earlier in the day that the world’s largest car company would pour funds into American manufacturing plants.
“I was just told by the prime minister that Toyota is going to be putting auto plants all over the United States to the tune of $10 billion. So that’s Toyota — so go out and buy a Toyota,” Trump said aboard the 4.5-acre nuclear-powered ship. more

I bought a 4runner last summer for a weekend driver as it was the last of the bulletproof V6 before being replaced by a Turbo 4. My work van Is a 14 year old Nissan 2500nv with260k on it, never even replaced the brakes, Oil changes, tires, couple of batteries and that’s about it. All the new vans suck, If it ever blows up I might just put and Ls in it to replace its big 5.6. Used to buy Fords before the eco boost bs.

Problem is, my ’15 Taco is only 10 years old so I’m not due for another one for at least 10 more years.
My ’93 Yota, which sits in my garage and still runs like a Swiss watch, was my daily driver for 22 years. I think I saved between $60 and $90,K what with driving that thing so long.
And they’re both great trail buggies. I off-road the heck out of those little rigs. I’ve pulled many full-sized trucks out over the years because of my narrow axle stance.
