Breitbart: A new poll finds that more Canadians distrust their government than trust it for the first time in 17 years, following a series of ethics scandals surrounding liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The poll, part of a global survey known as the Edelman Trust Barometer, also found a profound distrust of the nation’s major institutions and elites, with nearly three in four Canadians responding that they trust leaked information more than they would trust information deliberately published by a corporation or institution.
The Edelman poll finds that 43 percent of Canadians trust their government, with 57 percent saying they do not trust it. 80 percent of Canadians said they felt “the elites who run our institutions are out of touch with regular people.” To compare, in the United States, a nation often more distrustful than Canada of its elected officials, 52 percent said they trusted the government. This is up from 44 percent under President Barack Obama in 2015. read more
A little late to the party. I guess many Americans were, too. Water is not yet boiling froggies. Do something about it before you’re cooked.
I always loved the Canadians. North America’s always happy, always grinnin’, banjo pickin’ cousins. Sad.
How to spot a bulls**t statistic from a mile away: Anytime the number is near 50%, it’s a lie. As in, “52% trust the government”.
Distrust and dislike.
As I mentioned in an earlier comment there are 5 byelections scheduled for April 5th. I dearly hope to see the Liberals lose to the Conservative Party candidates on all of them and that starts some momentum culminating with the election of a new Conservative Party leader a little after that. Someone who is smart, capable and has some charisma because without that quality, rightly or wrongly we’re doomed.
@Redacted – Another sure sign of bogusitude is absence of uncertainty limits mentioned when presenting a percentage purported to describe a group.
We had to endure 8 years of a liberal/progressive/socialist before most Americans in the US woke up.
Will Canada learn from our mistake? Wake up !
Since 1982 Canada and England are independent of each other. However, as it concerns the influx of terrorist refugee muslims, it appears Trudeau is following England and the EU’s lead diminishing their sovereignty, safety and security in the name of destructive diversity.
Keep funneling illegals and muzzies in the US to the north. Eventually they will get enough, hopefully they are not complete pumpkin heads and will figure it out sooner vs later. Not holding my breath, it looks like a nation of brainwashed sheep similar to the dopes in Sweden.
His father, Fidel, went through the same distrust thing with his citizenry. He didn’t like it when people tried to escape, so we’ll just let Trump keep scaring those jihadist immigrants North to his open arms. Empathy to the good people of Canada.
Too late! You let the devil in. They never stop taking over.
Get that little prince out of my country elect him as the leader of the new country of mexifornia s.v.p.
“Polls, polls, everywhere a poll
Blockin’ out the truth and breakin’ my soul
Think this, think that – can’t you read the polls?”
I was chatting with a retired Canadian bubblehead today
at work (business) who’s my age. He made a quip
as to how “They were the only people that after
getting mugged, apologize to the mugger for not
having more money”. I laughed my ass off.
I hope work brings him back to my office as
it was great.
