Trump Announces Rep. John Ratcliffe to Replace Dan Coats as Director of National Intelligence

Epoch Times: President Donald Trump announced on July 28 that Daniel Coats, the director of national intelligence (DNI), will be leaving his office in the coming weeks and is to be replaced by Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas).

The departure of Coats, who has often clashed with the president over how to handle Russia, Iran, and North Korea, comes after months of speculation. Trump said Coats will be leaving the role on Aug. 15.

“I am pleased to announce that highly respected Congressman John Ratcliffe of Texas will be nominated by me to be the Director of National Intelligence,” Trump said on Twitter. “A former U.S. Attorney, John will lead and inspire greatness for the Country he loves.”

“I would like to thank Dan for his great service to our Country. The Acting Director will be named shortly,” Trump continued. more

  1. Ratcliffe was brilliant at the mueller hearing and should have had his face all over the news. But I guess asking for the media to be honest is just expecting too much.

ANY President who intends to fix our DC induced problems and boost America should view ANY DC swamp critter with more than 5 years tenure there with a VERY jaundiced eye when staffing his Cabinet. The swamp critters have yet to demonstrate ANY love of country – just skill in subverting justice and the Nation’s foundations for their personal ends.

  3. I heard that the New Jersey dirigible is who recommended Coats as well as some others.
    I’m glad Trump isn’t listening to the same people for recommendations, we’ve had more than enough backstabbers in there as it is.
