Trump DoD Nominee Withdrew from Consideration After Gun Control Position Publicized

Breitbart:  In early November, it was widely reported that Trump Department of Defense nominee Dr. Dean Winslow had problems with private ownership of AR-15s, and on November 20, Winslow wrote a Washington Post op-ed to announce he had withdrawn his name from DoD consideration.

Winslow explained that he was not able to give the Senate Armed Services Committee what they wanted inasmuch as he does “not support the unrestricted ownership of semiautomatic assault weapons by civilians.”

On November 8, Breitbart News quoted from Winslow’s Armed Services Committee testimony, wherein he responded to the Air Force’s failure to report pertinent information to the background check system by saying, “I’d also like to, and I may get in trouble with other members of the committee, just say how insane it is that in the United States of America a civilian can go out and buy a fully auto, or a semi-automatic assault rifle like an AR-15, which apparently was the weapon that was used [in the Texas attack].”

On November 20, Winslow used his WaPo op-ed to try to explain his support for gun control: MORE

SNIP: Because the government should be assigning guns to only well-trained persons. Like Eric Holder did through Fast and Furious,  or like 0bama did to the people in third world islam.

  1. In the United States of America a civilian can go out and buy a fully auto assault rifle only after an extensive background check and spending a lot of money. And in a State like Washington that isn’t even an option.

  2. “In the United States of America a civilian can go out and buy a fully auto assault rifle only after an extensive background check and spending a lot of money.”

That process takes between 10 and 12 months currently.

  3. At least he was upfront about it and withdrew rather then having another fifth columnist slip into the system. You have to wonder how many people testify before these committees to get a job and lie like rugs about their actual viewpoints. Hey, I think the guy is a bit of a goof that doesn’t understand the required regulations around gun purchasing or the 2nd amendment but I’m glad he was honest and I’d thank him for that.

  4. 🔥🔥STUPID JERK!🔥🔥

The Constitution doesn’t say anything about MUSKETS. It’s “Arms.”

If any of these dummies read it, it was for GOVERNMENT CONTROL, not deer control. How are you going to fight a government with M-60s, if you have smooth-bore flint-lock muskets? Can I buy gun powder and lead balls at Wal*Mart?
