Trump: I’m Not Getting “Any Credit” from Voters for Self-Funding; “Not Worth It”

The day after losing the Iowa caucuses to Senator Ted Cruz, Donald Trump took a swipe at voters, claiming they’re not giving him “any credit” for self-funding his campaign.

While he says that he will continue to do that, Mr. Trump made clear that he believes it’s “not worth it:”

Mr. Trump also took aim at the media, which he said was being unfair:

  1. Trump got GOPe’d The polls were phoney. Trump was not in the lead in Iowa for the past couple of months. His surge in the polls over the last week were rigged. If the polls had him in second and he took second that is not as big a problem for him than if he is touted to be in first and then ended up coming in second, or better yet third. Thus and so a whole new ballgame and argument ensues! And now it is!

  2. Sounds like The Donald is starting to get bored with the whole process. Well, he bailed out and went back to his businesses before when he felt underappreciated, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Stay tuned, folks. Don’t touch that dial…

    ?

  3. It pains me how people here have divided into camps and are just looking to believe the worst about any candidate that isn’t their chosen one. No one gives anyone but their own guy the benefit of the doubt. Start attacking Hillary and Bernie, for Heaven’s sake. That’s all I have to say. I will just continue try to stay out of it.

  4. Worth is a relative term. Trump decided early on it was worth it to finance his own campaign. Bernie decided early on it was worth it to have a bunch of millennials take from the cookie jar in their parents room. Trump can save himself if he convinces the public Mexico will pay for his campaign and the wall. Otherwise it’s probably best to stick to the plan.

  5. Trump is hard on himself when he doesn’t win. It is a common trait of successful people.
He thought he had it in the bag, and that made the loss hurt even more.
I fully expect he will be back on his game in a few days.
I also agree with a post above.
If he comes to the point where he believes he will not win the nomination he will fold his tent and go home. As he has done before.

  6. Trump chose to fund his own campaign.
Evidently he didn’t get the bang for his bucks in Iowa as he wished.
Voters are fickle, 76% of Iowan republican voters thought he didn’t deserve their vote.

    Unfair treatment by the media?
The guy who has gotten free media from day one?

    What? “It’s not worth it?”

Ted and Marco why aren’t you playing outside?
We scored some points and Donnie said it was unfair,
Then Donnie threatened to take his ball and go home, Mommy.
It’s OK boys, Donnie has some growing up to do.

If “its not worth it”, take your $Billions of Dollars and quit — or — if money is a problem for you, solicit donations from your supporters like all the other candidates who aren’t Billionaires.

Either its worth it or not.
But Donald, please don’t whine about your decision to fund your own campaign or pulling a Bernie Sanders by not getting free media attention for a respectable second place.

  7. I’ve been pretty vocal in my support of Trump, but he’s been a little off message lately. I want to hear more about law and order and growing the economy and making America Great Again and A LOT LESS about working together with nice folks like Pelosi and Reid. And self-funding is 90% of what brung him to this party in many of our minds.

Maybe this loss will bring him some introspection, if not humility.

Expecting humility from Trump is probably a bridge too far.

I suspect that a nap wouldn’t kill him, either.

But even if he thinks, for instance, that he can bring our enemies over to his/our side (doubtful, but maybe he thinks he can), mentioning, by name, people who most of his supporters, including this writer, seriously consider to be the Ant-Christ isn’t helping.

And while I want DJT to prevail, I can live with Cruz. But some free advice for him too since ultimately we’re ALL on the anti-Hillary team…

Give the Body of Christ stuff a rest. I’m quietly religious, but that stuff gives me the creeps. I suspect it does the same for many others as well.

  8. Considering Trump had to battle the DNC-owned Media in addition to the adversarial FOX as well as his opponents, I believe he should be happy with the IA (rural state) results and keep on keeping on.
Time is on his side. The longer he campaigns, the more voters will realize that he’s serious.

He got second place, while 4 governors got their asses kicked.

Hillary and Jeb! spent a fortune (and benefit from constant media ass-kissing) and both came up lame.

  9. This is a little bit off topic but I would like to say a few things about that wall.

Rumor has it there was wall in Berlin once. Its purpose was to keep people in East Berlin from voting with their feet and going to West Berlin. Even the commies were smart enough to know a wall without guards and guns wasn’t going to stop anyone.

Until the government makes at least as much effort to protecting the border as it does defending a wildlife refuge in Oregon, that wall will be nothing more than a band-aid on a heart attack.

  10. I hate to say it, but I’m pretty sure even Donald Trump is not deluded enough to think that Mexico has the spare money to pay for a 2,000 mile-long cyclone fence, much less a serious wall, and we probably would face a taxpayer revolt if we tried to make the American people pay for one. And man it. And maintain it. And then after it was built, the illegals would just tunnel under it, like they are already doing for drug shipments.

Like the closing line in the Maltese Falcon, “It’s the stuff that dreams are made of.”…

    🙂

  11. I heard about this quite a bit earlier and it’s been interesting reading everyone’s take on the situation. My first reaction was akin to ChiefIlliniCake’s. Mainly, a nap wouldn’t hurt despite that he’s used to a pretty heavy schedule.

One thing that I’ve always worried about is that Trump is used to seeing big results from big effort. Now that he sees how the sausage is made, I hope he can ratchet down his expectations. Because I love the big lug, I think he’s just having a logically frustrated reaction to an illogical situation.

After thinking about the whole thing for while, though, I’ve kind of come up with a couple main thoughts about his rant.

    1) Trump is provocative. He almost never makes a pronouncement without knowing the response he’ll elicit. And what’s the first thing you think when he says his self-funding is being taken for granted? Uh huh. 🙂
What is the second thing you think? Hint: Maybe you didn’t know his campaign is the only one self-funded.

    2) Everyone should know by now that Trump poses not only a threat to every Establishment concern that exists, not just in the U.S., but in globalist networks of people worldwide. There are multiple superPAC-funded entities who have signaled they are “going to take Trump out!” Every single dollar of his assets cannot stop them if they decided to work together to see to it their interests are protected. They didn’t expect him to run, they didn’t expect him to do so well. He may be signalling back that if it’s necessary he’s got a few billionaires of his own to fight them with.
And I’m am so cool with that if it means breaking the hold they all have on the United States.

  12. Remember a while back when I said I was afraid that Donald Trump only exists to break our hearts? Well, your (and many others) devotion to the guy makes me truly, sincerely hope I’m wrong about that. No sarcasm meant here. I really do mean that.

But I’m still afraid of him.

    Sorry…

  13. Last night when I saw his wife on stage with him, I got the impression that she was pregnant. She doesn’t look it at all. Her tummy is flat, but the way she held her arm…that protect baby with arm gesture. I know her step daughter is, but I got the impression that she might be also.
