Trump unveils sweeping anti-crime agenda, including stop-and-frisk and protecting cops from lawsuits

JTN: Former President Donald Trump says if re-elected to the White House he will enact a sweeping new law-and-order agenda that will create federal authority for stop-and-frisk policies and new indemnification from lawsuits to help local police fighting intensifying crime in blue urban areas.

In a wide-ranging interview with Just the News, the 45th president said Americans coast to coast are fed up seeing their stores looted, their neighbors violently mugged and their cars repeatedly stolen.

“You know, we’re a laughingstock all over the world,” he told an hourlong Just the News presidential candidate townhall sponsored by the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) and televised nationally on the Real America’s Voice network. “No other country has this, where our police are great, but they’re not allowed to do anything because they’re standing there watching these kids walk out with very expensive items, destroying businesses. And then the business closes, and they have empty stores all over the place.”

Trump proposed several new initiatives for crime fighting, including creating federal justification for the stop-and-frisk policies that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani instituted three decades ago to significantly lower crime in the Big Apple. more here

  1. “new indemnification from lawsuits to help local police fighting intensifying crime in blue urban areas.”

The devil will be in the details. Some cops deserve to get sued, some deserve to get fired, and some deserve to go to prison. I’m all for tweaking qualified immunity but don’t give them a license to be thugs.

And speaking of lawsuits, how about we put some teeth into suing rogue DAs who refuse to do their job?

  2. Corrupt cops already have too much “immunity” from accountability for their crimes. Anyone who has ever experienced the misfortune of being abused by a corrupt cop, and then the cop’s “superiors” and the system itself (up to and including POS mayors, DA’s and many judges) that are willing to cover up the crimes committed by cops in order to protect their paychecks which are all paid by the same municipal entity in many cases know this all too well.

The body cameras have helped prevent some abuse, but there are still cases where the cops abuse people and then claim they forgot to turn on their body camera or the camera just wasn’t working for that specific incident (or similar excuses) and the “justice” system covers up the crimes to prevent lawsuits. The best way to prevent police abuse is for the “good” cops to turn in the bad ones, even if the supervisors are corrupt and protect the bad ones. The good cop might lose his job, but he will actually be a good cop rather than a common criminal hiding behind a badge while violating his oath.

  3. At least Trump is engaging problems/issues as if they are real and just political talking points. He offers real effort to meet and or decrease these issues head on.

Imagine, Trump seems to be just as real and unique as he was in 2015!

  4. Stop in frisk? States, counties and cities all generally have that authority with probable cause. The main problem in this country is primarily local and sometimes at the state level were laws are not being enforced.

And by the way, the federal government would do well to actually enforce its own federal laws, especially against appointed and elected officials of the government you are currently on one humongous crime spree.

  5. If American citizens are ever going to regain trust in law enforcement, start weeding out bad cops. The average cop today sees everyone as a criminal. Many good, decent people have had their lives unjustly ruined by bad cops. Criminals and bad cops need to be held accountable. Blanket immunity for law enforcement is not the answer.
