I & I :President Donald Trump’s decision to slow the huge increases in fuel-efficiency standards put in place by the Obama administration in 2012 was met with derision and scorn by green groups, the big media and others on the left. In fact, it’s a wise move, one that will save Americans money, but more importantly, will save lives.
Trump’s action is perfectly timed. With the economy in turmoil from the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns, automakers will not have the means to retool, research and revamp their car lines to obey President Barack Obama’s absurdly stringent rules. Auto sales are now plunging.
Obama’s rules would have required automakers to push the Corporate Average Fuel Economy from 25.3 miles per gallon per vehicle in 2012 to 54.5 mpg by 2025. To do that, fuel efficiency had to increase about 5% a year.

democrats seeing the light at the end of the tunnel
Its the Trump train.
We need to get rid of the ability of government officials and bureaucrats to just dictate laws into existence (“rules” are laws) and go back to requiring Congress to pass them with public debate and procedures and the President either signing them into law or vetoing them.
That applies across the board, not just for fuel standards.
That would probably eliminate tens of thousands of new unnecessary laws we’re required to live by over the next decade or so (assuming we survive another decade, which we may not).
Now if we can get rid of the ethanol mandate.
And it will bring tears to the eyes of the greenie weenies. That by itself makes me support it.
We’re already having no options except four cylinder engines in whole lines of cars, cars that shut themselves off at stoplights, cars so lightweight they need 20 airbags to protect the occupants in a collision.
What’s next?
To meet Obama’s crazy standards, everyone will need to drive like a stick shift Chevy Spark – and even those don’t meet the Obama/Democrat standards.
All while there is so much oil on the market there are no places to store it.
Democrats – give them power and they cause pain and ruin.
Get rid of ALL the federal regulations on cars. They have become butt ugly, expensive, and computerized (Big Brother trackers and you can’t just fix things yourself). Head restraints that block vision. Windows that you can’t roll up or down that are dangerous after accidents. The lightweight risk is countered by smaller windows. SUVs now on crappy car chassis.
Line Vetos……
REpubliCANTS had to let the DEMocRATS pork up the Coronavirus Relief Bill just to get it passed……
With a Line Veto…..Trump45 could have fixed that problem…..
The Line Veto would also make both parties meet in the middle…..which would benefit all of the American people…..not just the political parties.
Wanna slow down on emmisions and pollution? Stop importing people, especially the illegals!
What REAL car gets 54 mpg now?
2025 is only 5 years away? Don’t just slow the law, kill the law NOW!
This will turn the USA into CUBA instantly. Everyone will be resuscitating pre-emission law cars from junkyards.
“The Line Veto would also make both parties meet in the middle…..which would benefit all of the American people…..not just the political parties.”
That would require a Constitutional amendment.
The USSC has already ruled it unconstitutional since it gives legislative power to the Executive branch that the Constitution restricts to the Congressional branch. It allows the President to rewrite legislation and as a result create new legislation that Congress didn’t pass, all the President is allowed to do is sign or veto it.
How about they mind their own Goddamned business and stay the hell out of things that are none of their business?
Gearheads & auto enthusiasts:
If you are interested watch a few Youtube videos about problems related to the “More efficient” Direct injection Gas or Diesel engines that get a bit more fuel efficiency and power but totalyy GUM UP the intake valves on modern engines.
Basically, the last generation PORT INJECTION was very efficient & cleaned the intake valves as the detergent fuel washed over them during the intake stroke. The injectors also operated at a reasonable pressure and were Okay for reliability.
The newer direct injection does not have any fuel hit the back of the intake valves and some of the sludge from the EGR valve (exhaust gas reroute) slowly build up on the intake valves eventually gunking them up and impeding their operation.
Result = walnut blasting (manually) or chemical additives to help clean them up. $$$$$
The only exception in the newer Toyota “superior” series of 4 cylinder notors like on the camry.
I bought the last version of a V-8 ford and F-4 subaru to avoid this ASSFUCKERY.
The older engineers were not perfect but at least they were not Fucking Stupid.
I miss those older guys that smoked, drank & swore while you were consulting with them.

Now, @Kcir. The computer simulation (written by the Indians, hired by local H1-Bramin) says it all works perfectly fine.
