Trump’s resolve is breaking the migrant caravan up fast

AT: Dragging into its fourth week, all signs are on that the migrant caravan is falling apart.

According to the Associated Press:

ISLA, Mexico – A 4,000-strong caravan of Central American migrants traveling through Mexico split up into several groups with one spending the night in a town in the coastal state of Veracruz and other migrants continuing toward the country’s capital.

The divisions came during a tense day in which tempers flared and some migrants argued with caravan organizers and criticized Mexican officials.

How did it happen?  Obviously, someone promised them something for free and then didn’t pay up.  This is about what you’d expect when someone offers something for free, and then realizes that the whole thing is not going to pay off in the politically useful way expected. Why pay for nothing?

Whether it was Venezuelan or Sorosian or Mexican, the free cash for a free ride to the border and all the free stuff of the U.S. just never materialized.  That has raised questions about why the group should stay together instead of split apart.  After all, anyone can apply for asylum to the states on his own.  Applying in a 4,000-strong group pretty well means a long wait time, and limited utility to the individuals.

A promised bus ride to Mexico City for thousands of migrants from Central America was the latest money that never materialized.  Mexico’s Veracruz governor, anxious to get the migrants out of his home state as soon as possible, promised them all free bus rides to Mexico City. Then he withdrew the offer, likely because Mexico City didn’t want them there either.  Mexican federal authorities reportedly warned the Veracruz governor he’d be charged with human-trafficking if his free bus rides rolled out to the Mexican capital.  Obviously, Mexico City does not see itself as having much to gain politically from the big migrant caravan and the series of caravans that are still forming and progressing northward, also expecting free bus rides, anymore.

The non-government organizations are suddenly silent, too, no more noisy press conferences to browbeat the gringos.  Was it their consciousness about the impact of the news photos showing thousands of migrants streaming across bridges and rivers, and strewing trash all over Mexican towns, that dried their money up?  Organizing these caravans obviously isn’t paying off for them, either, particularly since some, such as the Sorosian groups, have been harshly criticized already. 1. Moar proof the liberals are the most racist, misogynistic and vile misanthropes the planet has ever encountered.

Liberals USED these thousands of “migrants” for their own political gain.

Try and tell me that’s not racism!

  2. OR, they’re splitting up to cross the border at different spots to avoid getting caught.
Do they know about all our guys the president has guarding our border?
    Hehehehe.
    Surprise!

  3. The left mismanaged the timing. They wanted a battle to vindicate their whining about President Trump being such a horrid person, let alone, illegitimate President.

I’m fairly certain that they wanted pictures of bloodied children stuck on barbed wire, to send the message to vote republicans out of office.

All that Soros money wasted. It’s wonderful when a leftist plan fails.

  4. Commie Progs associate our ancestors, who trekked the great plains taking a year to cross, with this bunch of bus riding malcontents.
Freeloaders and criminals, looking for a free ride.
If that makes me racist, then call me Don Lemon.

  5. Come on caravan…you can make it.

I want to see the military mow down these invading scum or try out our new weapons on them. Object lesson to all of our southern shit hole countries to fix their corruption and stop exporting their criminals.

  6. America already has enough ignorant stupid people, we don’t need any more coming here using up our resources. Mexico doesn’t have the means to take them in either hoping that we would pay for them to stay in Mexico. Money talks, and just the threat of Trump taking their aid away is enough clout to make the Mexicans do something.

all that stuff Sessions & Rosenstein & Horowitz & Huber had to keep under wraps for more than a year, the curtain can be tossed of it.

None of it was politicized before the midterms.

So, Conservatives™ conserving… running to a network camera, somberly straightening their bowties, and solemnly proclaiming “The communists have agreed to wait their turn.” Again. Same as it ever is. Derp.

  8. It was mentioned in earlier articles that a major draw for caravan participants is that they avoid the expense and risk of human traffickers and all the parasites that feed off that industry, including government officials. Organized (and unorganized) crime has a lot to lose, if caravans become a successful trend.

If this caravan gets as far as the border states, the Cartels may decide to make a statement, if the sponsors/participants are unwilling and/or unable to pay the requisite toll(s).

If the Democrats prevail tonight, I would anticipate that Mexico’s current position would shift dramatically in favor of the caravans, as Trump would be perceived to be weak and vulnerable.

Most of the world respects and admires strong leaders, even if they may hate what they do. Weakness in a leader is always met with ridicule and disdain, even if what they do is agreeable.
