President Trump on Friday will detail a series of proposals aimed at lowering drug prices in a major address, including combating high list prices and getting countries that pay less than the U.S. for pharmaceuticals to pay an equal share.
The speech will also outline goals to increase competition in the pharmaceutical market and lower out-of-pocket costs for consumers. The vast majority of the measures in the speech scheduled for Friday afternoon can be achieved through administration regulations, an administration official told reporters on Thursday.
The president will touch on policies outlined in his proposed budget that was released earlier this year. These policies include giving low-income seniors on Medicare free generic drugs and installing a new out-of-pocket limit for plans on Medicare Part D, the program’s prescription drug plan. more
It’s about time. The pharmaceutical companies are charging so much that many patients cannot get the medications they need. Other countries won’t pay these outrageous prices so Americans end up subsidizing them by paying higher prices.
I can see it now, Trump will get drug prices lowered by say, 20%. Nancy Pelosi will spittle out “that’s just crumbs for the Seniors”, Chuckles the Clown will spin the lower prices as being in bed with Big Pharmacy, Hillary will claim she lost the Presidency because the seniors were under-medicated and finally Bernie Sanders will say unless everything is free, then Captialism is the root of all evil.
Meanwhile, CNN continues holding 24/7 round tables, fantasizing how the Russians and Trump are in bed together, for the 72th consectutive week.

I had one generic drug jump from $20/month to $140.00. Look at the idiot CEO who dramatically increased the price of Epi-pens, a true life saving drug with people who suffer from allergies, such as bee stings or peanuts.

@MJA….I had a similar discussion with a friend who’s one prescription could cost 3K a month. Luckily he’s getting some help from Medicare….When was Insulin first introduced for diabetics?….I’m thinking the 50’s…
Insulin should be as available and as cost effective as Aspirin….
