Homeless in USA dropped from about 650k in 2007 to about 550k in 2016, around 15% drop. By 2020 it had edged up to 580k (keep in mind overall population rose about 3% 2016-2020). Yet homelessness in CA & NY, perhaps a few other places, has skyrocketed during those years.
Why? Why, money, of course. That half-cent sales tax add-on for L.A. County that people voted for a few years ago, that money is going to somebody’s pockets. And so on.
