The employment agencies manages all the crap you are subjected to and shields you from any liability. Like the penalties involved in Newsoms relatively new retirement package for employees we need to fund. Managing this crap takes a full time HR person. A olt of these H1-B employees are hired, actually attached to, an employment agency. I know the massive amount of Indians that work for Intel here in Folsom Ca don’t work direct for Intel. They work for an employment agency. By the way Intel Folsom’s parking lot is empty right now. Any day, any time. They use to run around the clock.”

Well, by a very large factor.
We still need the H1-B. Maybe if they got all the profit taking assholes out of it, it would work. And it shouldn’t be a lottery. If you can’t find an American citizen to fill your position go to an employment agency and let them search prospective candidates. After they get a job here, give them the VISA.
Elon’s not wrong, but the system needs to be fixed. Which is what I think he finally agreed with.
Where have all of you been? This has been rigged for decades! So much so, I’ve landed jobs solely because I could act as an intermediary between the H1B’s, and USGov roles that require a citizen’s fingers on the keyboard…
You want to make it more fair for US citizens? I don’t have a problem competing. But I’m competing with indentured servants. Cut the indentured service bit and let the visa float so long as they’re employed in the specialized field that qualified them for the visa. This helps prevent mistreatment and allows them to leave a job for a better offer. That will take the wage pressure off actual US citizens, and take away the corporate grift.
I can remember seeing a video on YouTube ten years ago done at a immigration lawyers seminar in upstate NY. The subject was how to game the H1B visa requirements for ensuring US citizens got first crack at the job.
1. Take out one want ad in some backwater local paper for the minimum time allowed. No serious job seeker would ever see it there.
2. After the allotted period, pull the ad and hire some jeets at cut rate pay.

Uncle Al is giving you good advice. But if you advance your knowledge a wee bit, you can configure & run a Pi-Hole and configure it to block only the ad’s you find offensive. That preserve’s BFH revenue stream, and gets you out from the crazy “hanging belly fat” and other crazy crap ad’s.
