Breitbart: The USS America leads the next generation of amphibious warfare, equipped with as many as 13 F-35s.
On January 14, at the 32nd Annual Surface Navy Association Symposium, Vice Adm. Rich Brown, commander of Naval Surface Forces, explained that “amphibs” — that is, amphibious warfare watercraft — could offer smaller, shorter-range fighters a platform for more effective “power projection.”
“A big deck with that many F-35s is beginning to look like an aircraft carrier to me,” he noted. And that could be a vital development: Modern enemies of the United States have better sensors supporting weapons with longer ranges, and more sophisticated targeting tech. The next big war is going to be an interesting one.
The next BIG war will have to be with nukes. No more pussy footing around. If we’d nuked Moscow and Beijing at the end of WWII a lot of crap could have been avoided.
If we didn’t spend so much time pussy footing around with these communist regimes since the 50s and giving them free money and other freebies, we would be in far better shape.
The navy is only qualified to be in the transportation business. Leave the flying to air force and fighting to marines. A carrier is a dropped bar of soap in a prison shower.

Mr. Brad- the sad fact is that carriers, now, have a small chance of survival. There are several thousand valuable lives exposed. The air assets are accompanying them. We need to get them off of a 30 kt. target and place them where at least they would have a fighting chance. The carriers are the puffed up chest of US. Book of life says pride goes before a fall.

I worry the F-35 (the 114 million dollar prices apiece) will cause the size of American air power to be dangerously small.
All the chi comms or russians have to do is figure a way around its defenses, and they can decimate our now-small air forces.
Zillions of F-16s, F-15s, F-18s, A-10s loaded with stand-off cruise missiles and the like should be maintained alongside.
