Unacceptable! Snow brings unprepared NYC to its knees, de Blasio catching Heat

DC: New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is catching heat from all corners as several inches of November snow has virtually crippled one of America’s major cities.

Even a congressman from De Blasio’s party was critical of the “unacceptable” response to the storm.

“Transportation and transit are the lifeblood of our city,” tweeted DemocraticRep Adriano Espaillat.  “3 inches of snow have crippled #NYC and this is unacceptable. Moms are stranded with their kids, people are running out of gas. This is unacceptable & we demand answers.”  MORE

  1. Here’s a clue for ya’ll damn yankees. Ya live in the north, where it normally snows each and every winter. You might want to show a little self initiative and prepare yourselves for the inevitable.
There is plenty enough reason to throw rocks at DeFlabio without blaming him for the weather but go right ahead, we southerners think ya’ll are down right crazy anyway.
My apologies to any IOTW fans that are trapped in the New York area. Ya’ll demonstrate your intelligence at almost every post.

  2. Is this what our country has become? A bunch of sniveling cretins?

    What do we want? Everything!
When do we want it? Now!

Why isn’t anybody coming to help me…me…me…?

    (sigh)

  3. I dispise DiCommio! BUT I cannot fault him necessarily on this one. Every town in the tristate area was in gridlock. Even the website Ventusky (check it out if you don’t know) said we would get 4″ and we got 7″.

The storm decided to slow down and we got a more than average amount for this time of year.

NYC problems aside and per the attached vid below, the county of Westchester is FULL of hills and that is not a good combination either. Also, the timing WAS bad, snow started heavy fast at 3:00 school dismissal and then RUSH hour a few hours later.

I heard MANY stories of a trip that might take 15 minutes took FOUR HOURS.

@ capt Leroy – yes this IS true what you say. BUT would I rather deal with a few snow storms a year, shovel, or in a place in which my house will blow down OR burn down?

Yes, just one accident on the GWB can RUIN your morning snow or NO snow!

  5. @ Charlie WalksonWater – we are not pussies by any means!

We were without power in March for six day six hours because a storm took out a 250 year old tree on an upline powerline. The tree was 44″ in diameter.

Lower Westchester…NO SNOW then, that was just wind.

  6. De Blasio has shit for brains. NYC is running on intertia, but with any deviation from the norm, and the likes of De Blasio have to do anything, NYC will fall on its face.

    Good for them.

  7. When I heard about this, I wondered if NY’s transportation workers were on strike. A few inches of snow-heck, ONE inch of snow-would paralyze Dallas, but NY? Makes no sense.

  8. So, instead of residents rolling up their sleeves and taking care of the problem themselves, they all sit back, bitch their heads off, and wait for the government to take care of them. Where have we seen this before? Oh, that’s right, hurricane Katrina! You’d think these were two long time democrat controlled cities.
