US Air Force Turns 68!

The official date of the founding of the US Air Force is 18 September 1947.  It was a momentous event that over six decades later has demonstrated the achievement of an Air Force second-to-none, yet the Air Force’s history and heritage goes back a lot further.

  1. Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
    Climbing high into the sun;
    Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
    At ’em boys, Give ‘er the gun! (Give ‘er the gun now!)
    Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
    Off with one heckuva roar!
    We live in fame or go down in flame.
    Hey! Nothing’ll stop the U.S. Air Force!

  2. …Off with one helluva roar!
    We live in fame or go down in flame.
    Shout! Nothing will stop the Army Air Corp!

    My father flew 30 missions in B-17s over Germany. I know it was the Army Air Force at that time but it had been the Army Air Corp for a long time before that. I just can’t sing “U.S. Air Force” when I know it will always be “Army Air Corps.”

    By the way, thanks Pop. For everything you did.

  3. I was going to say , yes , we have an Air Force second to none, but Major Mal Function beat me to the punch You see, Obama ain’t finished yet. Who is the Commander of the Air Force? The new Secretary of the Army, nominated by obama,
    is openly gay.

  4. Obama’s just trying to turn his earlier gaff into a truth – adding to the other circus freak shows, he’s now brought the Army into center ring. With the Air Corpse soon to follow as encore act.
