We’ve all been wondering where the money was coming from, now we know. It was coming from us.
The entire U.S. government is going to be found to be, basically, a make-work enterprise paid for my you and me. Once the outright fraud, waste and abuse of each department is peeled back, I’ll bet there is at least an equal amount of money paid to people who are working another full-time job as an absent employee of the government, or they’re just spending their days as a though on paid/perked leave.
After they peel that layer off, I bet they’ll find that one hell of a lot of government workers have set up phony accounts of their own to which they divert regular payments. And after that, I bet they find a huge amount of tax-payer money is walking out the door and disappearing from construction work sites, vis property — via regular over-purchasing (just for that reason).
When I was in the Air Force, ALL the senior NCOs and their toadies who had a pick-up truck, 5th wheel, etc, just helped themselves to all kinds of materiel used by the AF for cargo operations; straps, chains, and devices. No one cared and no one even tried to hide their thievery. They all felt “entitled”, I guess.
I’ve been saying for years that we are merely an ATM for this behavior. It’s like finding out your teenager stole your credit cards and if you sold everything you own, it still wouldn’t be enough to pay them off. Sickening.

This interview was an interesting perspective. Mike Benz has no love for USAID and understands that it is full of corruption. But he makes the interesting observation that, like it or not, a Superpower must sometimes have a mechanism to “control” the governments of smaller countries. Ripping USAID out by the roots will require implementing other methods.
It was an awkward conversation to listen to when I’m so disgusted with our Federal government.
