USPS seeks temporary relief from the Biden admin’s vaccine or test mandate, warning of ‘potentially catastrophic impact’ to service

Blaze: The United States Postal Service is seeking a temporary waiver from the Biden administration’s mandate that will require large employers to ensure that workers are either vaccinated against COVID-19 or that they test negative weekly.

Deputy Postmaster General Douglas Tulino noted in a letter to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration that USPS could lose employees at a critical time as a consequence of the mandate.

Fox News noted that the letter warned that the mandate “is likely to result in the loss of many employees — either by employees leaving or being disciplined – particularly given the higher level of temporary employees at this time of year.”

“Given our essential role to the nation, particularly during these challenging times, we believe that it is critical to avoid disruption to our vital operations,” Tulino declared. “For that reason, we are seeking temporary relief from the ETS and maintenance of the status quo on an interim basis.” more

  1. Essential role to the nation????? How about the essential role of making a living to support ones own family!!!

FOAD to this entire administration. I won’t call it the Biden administration because it is obvious he is not calling the shots.

  2. I worked at the USPS as a rural temp years back and they couldn’t keep enough workers back then. It was a hard, manual labor job. Add a jab to the USPS and they will never recover and you will never get your mail. The majority of regular workers are over age 50.

  3. It should be clear to every American that our government will keep poking and prodding us until we revolt.
That has been their ultimate intent going back to circa the Oklahoma City bombing.

  4. I live in a rural area, so know all the city and rural mail carriers in 3 towns around me. One of them only has rural carriers, all of them are over 50, very conservative and have said they won’t get the jab, they all are eligible for retirement. The clerk is also eligible for retirement.
The other only has one city carrier, and 4 rural carriers, only one of whom isn’t eligible for retirement, but all have said they won’t get it. The one who isn’t eligible for retirement says she has enough leave that she could stretch it out for over a year without having to come into work. They have two clerks, one is just a sub, the other is a stupid old lady who already got the jab.
The third has 5 city carriers, 6 rural carriers, plus 2 contract carriers, 2 city subs, 3 rural subs. Both contract carriers say they just won’t rebid their contracts, all rural carriers say they won’t get it, all of them are eligible for retirement, their subs say they’ll just quit. 1 city carrier is an old stupid lady who can’t ever deliver her mail on her own, she doesn’t say, but probably already got the jab. One kid who is stupid, but not stupid enough to get the jab and has said he will quit. 2 are veterans, one has a medical exemption that he got as soon as they started this crap, the other is eligible for retirement that he says he will do. The final carrier is in his 30’s and says he will use all of his leave while he sues, but that he won’t quit, but will get another job while he sues them, their subs never last a year anyway and those they have now have only been there a few months. They have one full time clerk, a black veteran who says they can kiss his black ass. 2 subs again who are like the carrier subs.

All 3 of these towns can’t fill jobs when they become open and subs move in an out constantly. So who will deliver the mail?

I’m sure there are rural towns like this all across America that will have no mail carriers.

  5. RogerF, those forever stamps will come in handy as they are raising postal rates on the 9th. Not sure if that includes stamps but they are planning more rate increases next year too.

You just described the little town of 600 I live in. They are pleading for help but all the workers there are ready to retire. You said it so much better than I could.
