PJM– What began as rumors of state meddling in the food-distribution market in Venezuela were finally confirmed on Monday. The Nicolás Maduro government is compelling the country’s food producers to send up to 100 percent of their output to state-owned distribution centers and stores, in an attempt to solve the nation’s shortage problems.
This according to Pablo Baraybar, president of the Venezuelan Food Industry Chamber (CAVIDEA), who explained that the National Agro-Food Superintendency — a governmental entity in charge of managing food distribution in the country — has ordered affiliated firms to send the majority of their products to PDVAL, MERCAL, Bicentenario supermarkets, and other establishments of the state-run network. In Venezuela, the national government manages the distribution of food. It’s the executive, through the ministries, who decides which stores in what part of the country will get the products. MORE
Thus, moving from difficult to impossible.
I wonder when they’ll restrict immigration and put up walls to keep the productive from leaving?
I’m sure the Cubans will be more than helpful when the time comes to completely enslave the people
Those in government will of course get their food first.
nothing spells shortages like government control.
Visions of frying pans and fire are dancing in my head.
“And remember! The man standing next to you!…is your dinner!”
When food is outlawed only outlaws will have food.
They should be THANKING the government! After all, IT KNOWS BEST how to do things…right, Venezuelans?!
p.s. Enjoy your fetid, *glorious* people’s sh!thole.
This ought to solve the toilet paper shortage problem.
(No input, no output.)
And once again the cause of the food shortages to begin with are now legislated by law to be put in charge of finding a solution. Much like the housing bubble here in America and resulting financial meltdown!
My wife has several business clients that are Venezuelan ex-pats who managed to salvage what they could of their businesses and fled to the US to start over again. All of them have extended family trapped in the country and the stories they tell are horrifying. Venezuela is on the razor’s edge of a massive humanitarian disaster that will cost untold lives before it is over. There very well could be an outright revolution brewing while Obama has continued to lead from behind.
Yet another massive mess the next President(s) are going to inherit from Obama’s legacy.
Seems about right.
And with inflation at around 500%, who could afford to buy any consumer goods, anyway?

Big yawn, the US is busy nationalizing wages!
No sweat, Obunghole will generously transport them all here, locate them in your neighborhood, and redirect your money to
feed, house, clothe, educate and medicate them and they won’t even have to say Gracias Hombre!
Communists have always used food as a weapon. Look at Moochele’s Healthy Lunch program. Food and money for food used as a weapon.
They should worry we make our food into gas, but then again all those south of the border turn their food into gas too!
