Veterans Day – IOTW Report

Veterans Day

Military.com: This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country’s service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on Nov. 11 because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to “Veterans Day” in order to account for all veterans in all wars.

We celebrate and honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.  MORE

  1. As a veteran let me be the first to thank all the veterans of all the wars America has fought since the American Revolution all the way up to the current War on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. And thank you for your service, especially to my dad (USAF 1947-50) and his 3 brothers (World war 2), my mom’s older brother (Marines WW2) my father in law (Korea), my best friend who served 30 yrs. in the Navy as an AW (anti submarine warfare) and retired as a Senior CPO), all my friends who served in Vietnam, you know who you are, good men all and my nephews who served in the War on terror after 2001. The older I get the more proud I am of my 3 yrs. in the Navy from 1972-75.
