I disagree. I’ve brandished once before and I believe it saved my life. I’d much rather not have to shoot then shoot when showing my weapon might have been enough. It was for me.

In my training brandishing was taught to be just about as bad as pointing an unloaded gun at someone. You should never unholster or show your weapon unless it is going to be used. However if you draw with the full intention to shoot and the goof runs away, that isn’t considered brandishing.

A co-worker’s son “brandished” in Florida when confronted by a car-full of “youts” who called the cops on him. He was arrested even though the “youts” had numerous arrests and convictions and he was clean.
Cost him and his Dad $11,000 to extricate him from Florida and escape to a civilized state.

He was a cop trying to investigate a rape where these squatters lived. The other people running ahead of him were a part of the investigation too.
