JTN: Police in northern Virginia are searching for the person who put sausages laced with fish hooks on city streets, in an apparent attempt to harm dogs or punish dog owners.
An animal services officer found nine pieces of sausage with fish hooks in them Friday at an intersection in Alexandria, Virginia. They were discovered after someone walking a dog discovered one that morning.
“We’re looking for leads,” an Alexandria Police Department spokesperson said Tuesday.
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria says the laced sausages were put in the streets to intentionally harm animals. more

Some goof throws food around the forest preserve I frequent with my dog. Like s/he cleans out the fridge and brings it all to the preserve, it’s just weird. I assume to feed the wild animals which is stupid, but it pisses me off when my dog has her head buried in a pile of questionable food. Now this hook story will make me more pissed off.

I lost my female golden retriever Sam to some bastard who poisoned her in 2009. Sam must’ve gotten ahold of and ate some poisoned hamburger that been thrown over my chain link fence. This jackass from what I heard also had poisoned a number of other dogs as well. I would be very tempted to kill someone who ever tries to poison my border collie Kirby by force feeding them either strychnine or arsenic and see them die horribly from being poisoned.
When/if they catch them, it would be a shame if their address got leaked…
