Virginia teachers union trolled after it fires off letter rife with embarrassing errors

BPR: A Virginia teachers union has garnered plenty of attention but for all the wrong reasons after a letter about coronavirus protections at schools was roasted on social media.

An Arlington parent gave the union letter an old-fashioned editing and the result was a wave of mockery as it went viral for a trove of embarrassing grammatical and linguistic errors.

While there was no other context about the original letter or any links to where it could be found, the Twitter user @ellenfgallery shared images of her corrections, highlighting nearly two-dozen issues in green pen and sparking hundreds of Twitter reactions mocking the fail by professional educators.

“Hey @VEA4Kids, are you going to send out more of these grammar worksheets over break?” the tweet read. “My kids and I had a great time spotting errors! Did we find them all?” more here

  1. You think THIS 8s funny, I bet the Spanish language one where they try to cut out all the gendered nouns and use Google Translate for idioms and Spanish grammar rules is even MORE hilarious…

  2. Heh, you go to their Web site, it gets WORSE.

First, it’s a shit Web page. Not intuitive at ALL, links in weird places, and NO foreign language option at ALL. Not too woke, are we?

Second, look at this whine by “Josh” for more money for less teaching.

“My ask is simple in these absolutely, unprecedented times: dip into the rainy fund to allow the schools some room to breathe in a budget that has been slashed even though enrollment has increased. How much you wish to offer depends on how many programs and services that are not bare-bones core you would like APS to keep.”

“My ask”? Yes, I have heard this type of construction, but it’s pretty awkward sounding from someone making a case for teachers deserving more money.

“dip into the rainy fund”? Missing a “Day” there, J-man, or maybe you want them to make it rain for you? Either way, again, you’re asking money for alleged educators, at least TRY to sound like you’re, you know, educated.

“How much you wish to offer depends on how many programs and services that are not bare-bones core you would like APS to keep.”
THIS long piece of awkwardness seems to suggest in a turgid way that the teachers will only do “core” teaching unless the river of shekels is released. He doesn’t say what is and is not “core”, but if this cuts OUT Woke Gendered Racism 101 and leaves only Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic, sounds like a GOOD thing, actually.

    Also, this;
“The schools, on the other hand, have very few of those levers in their toolbox. ”
…now THERE’S a “man” who has NO idea what an ACTUAL toolbox has in it. Could have just said “tools” and been done with it, but “Levers”? Gee, guess I need to run down to Home Depot and get me a bag of levers for my toolbox come Monday to keep up with the COOL kids, eh, Josh?

The whole thing is pretty pompous and cringey, feel free to enjoy more on your own time.

    He signs thus,

    Josh
    “Nice Matters”

Not balls enough to use his full name, and people who push “nice” generally consider that a one-way street.

Found a picture of Josh. Pretty much what you’d expect.

…thought about looking at his social media, but I don’t do Fakebook and I don’t look at LinkedIn if I’m not at work and rarely even then, but if someone else wants to, it’s probably pretty hilarious…

  3. SNS per the link, Mr “Josh” has been teaching for over 20 years, in 3-4 different locations/states.
With a meat-gazer’s face like that, I’d say that it was a case of; hire Josh, hate Josh, fire Josh. Mixed in with a “we’ll let you leave, and not press pedo charges, but you have to leave NOW.”

  4. I think that that letter was ghost written. Its grammatical perfection reveals it was composed by a graduate from one of our prestigious colleges of education at an outstanding university. Nevertheless, the syntactical excellence and profundity of meaning would single out, as author, The Very Reverend Al Sharpton.
