Walmart has announced that it is terminating its contract with DroneUp, the drone logistics company it partnered with back in 2021.
The split also includes Walmart’s exit as an investor in the drone company, signaling a shift in the retail giant’s approach to drone-based delivery strategies.
The announcement came just weeks after DroneUp received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification to expand its commercial operations, according to AccessWire. This development raised hopes for the future of the company. Despite this progress, Walmart confirmed that its partnership with DroneUp, which initially aimed to scale up drone deliveries to customers, has officially ended. DroneUp confirmed the split as well with Walmart in a recent statement. more
Drone terrorism will be a great challenge going forward. A drone can be fitted with a small bomb or even a gun – or poison gas or a fire bomb. Every drone will be suspect. Drone deliveries will have a hard time being trusted.
@Anon0454 — Agree. Cruise missiles for the masses.
The Walmart drone thing was short lived here. the local Walmart had some parking area cordoned off for their operations. I don’t know when they stopped trying, but it wasn’t long.
I wonder how many accidents they were a distraction for. LOOK!! A DRONE!!
CRASH. oops
Zero chance of drone delivery working anywhere too many Ns are around. They literally make every aspect of a trust based economy impossible. They require commerce be locked behind steel bars and bullet proof glass.
