The Russian Navy was no match for a female walrus defending her young. Russian sailors with the Northern Fleet were taking part in a joint expedition with the Russian Geographical Society in the Arctic Ocean when they encountered the walrus while trying to land on Cape Geller.
The crew launched an inflatable craft to take the researchers to the shore when the female walrus started attacking the boat.
An inflatable, you say? How do we know the walrus was attacking the boat and not trying to mate with it?

The walrus was actually Wally Walrus playing the Russian ambassador and bad guy Ivan Awfulitch in an old Woody Woodpecker cartoon.

I was wrong about Ivan Awfulitch, it was actually Woody Woodpecker in disguise befuddling Wally Walrus and eating all his food. Wally Walrus was probably the inspiration for the Swedish Chef on The Muppets since they both spoke Swedish mumbo jumbo. I had to got to You tube to refresh my memory, it’s been that long ago since I saw this. All I remember was the punny name of Ivan Awfulitch. Sorry for the mistake but the older I get my memory isn’t quite what it used to be.
